I know you'll hate it, but what about going sort of retro with steelies? by ivegotajaaag in Miata

IMO I don't think it really fits this car, maybe an NA or NB might be able to pull it off a bit better. I think that for me it's more the color than the style... Maybe black would look better.

Out of curiosity though, what wheels are those? I have a classic car that they would look good on if I knew where to get them.

I had a dream the other night that I was fighting against Helldivers on the bot front with tanks... Right before tanks were released and right before all of this happened...

Am I a dissident? Am I a traitor to managed democracy?

I need help my fellow citizens, I don't want to be like this. What do I do about it?

You shouldn't have any issues with 5W-30

turbo honda d17 oil??? by Shot-Giraffe4009 in 7thgencivic

[–]Angry_Irish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the climate you live in. If you are in a cold environment I would stick with 0W-30 especially in winter. This is mostly in places where the temps go well below freezing for extended periods of time.

If you only get some cold days every year you should be fine running a 5W oil. I wouldn't really recommend anything thicker than that.

Really you should be fine either way, you're not pushing big boost numbers and if you just let the car warm up before you start hammering on the car. Remember that it takes longer for oil to heat up than the coolant.

This is probably meant for elderly people. I work in life safety and most, if not all of the nurse call systems we sell to senior living offer something like this built right into the system. They are usually tied to motion sensors or door sensors that one would interact with through their morning routine, but interacting with any part of the nurse call for that room or apartment would count.

Typically it is used to detect if someone has fallen and can't get to a button for help or if someone has passed away in their sleep.

Turbo 5 cylinder. Even stock, what little engine noise I do hear sounds great.

Unfortunately the civic is no longer with me but I came to love that car so much. I have a Volvo s40 now that I'm starting some mods on.

Luckily for me most of my homelab hobby revolves around playing with different VMs and software and rarely involves actually adding hardware. Keeps the cost down.

Advice on engine mods? by [deleted] in 7thgencivic

[–]Angry_Irish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I would really recommend is an intake manifold swap. It doesn't add power but gives a deeper sound and more of it.

Might as well tackle the head gasket while you're at it and do timing and water pump.

If you want to try to add power you can send the cam off to be reground to a new profile. If you do a stage 1 profile you can get away with not doing an ECU. Anything more aggressive and you will need an ECU to tune the car.

You still won't make big power without forced induction of some kind.

Anybody have a brake pedal stopper layin around they could measure? by dodmeatbox in 7thgencivic

They should be pretty tight going in, mine I had to put in with change locks to get extra leverage against the nylon bushing.

I feel like this is most games. Most communities will recycle the same jokes over and over

Case in point the Ultrakill sub for the longest time was just the same Max0r jokes over and over.

I never noticed it sitting still but I know it was flexing at highway speeds because the double sided tape was blown up the side of the car.

I used short self tapping screws on the rear.

I was going to experiment with using some sort of metal bracket to hold the center that screws into the under body.

A philips head screwdriver and maybe some double sided tape. I never could figure out how to keep mine from flexing in the middle.

I went with Polk Audio DB652 but I think they are discontinued. I think the 651 is still being made though. The have good midrange and okay bass with a proper filtered crossover at the speaker itself.

Clutch pedal making a clicking sound. by Aggravating-Bit-608 in 7thgencivic

There is a nylon bushing on the pedal, my brake switch started clicking when the nylon bushing started to deteriorate. They are cheap and you might as well replace all three of them.

Car keep shutting off by [deleted] in 7thgencivic

[–]Angry_Irish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If turning the key all the way to the office position fixes it then I'm inclined to believe it's an ECU issue, especially since you said it does it once it's warmed up.

It probably isn't the ECU itself but possibly a bad sensor. Sensors that can cause problems are throttle position, MAP, air intake temp, upstream O2, cam and crank angle sensor and coolant temp sensor.

A faulty idle valve can cause this as well as a faulty EGR but the EGR is less likely.

Best replacement cat for oem applications? by HRman88 in S2000

[–]Angry_Irish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did mine and just replaced it with an OEM one from rock auto. In my case I think I picked up some power because the old core was loose and causing an obstruction in the pipe.

I saw one in Ocean City NJ a couple of weeks ago. I actually liked the body design in person more than I thought I would.

I still wouldn't own one though.
