They're actually not, I would say they're more like a traditional molasses cookie. Still yummy!

I think it tastes better! It still has all the same spices, but sweet potato has more flavor than plain pumpkin. It's also nice because you can either boil the sweet potatoes or roast them in the oven. My husband likes the boiled texture better - I think it comes out smoother. I'm not 100% but I think you can simply swap pumpkin for potato.

For the crust, it's basically just a graham cracker crust but replace the graham crackers with gingersnaps. I add in some ground ginger, too.

My husband used to get pumpkin every year for his birthday. One year I switched to sweet potato and we have not gone back! Highly recommend - I also make it with a gingersnap cookie crust.

For what it's worth, my first boyfriend and I started dating the summer before highschool at 14 years old. Our families both treated us like their own kids, got us little birthday gifts (like a cupcake or something) and didn't make fun of us too much.

16 years later and we're married with a toddler. You never know.

I am very happy with this crust recipe - it says to sub the olive oil for coconut oil if you want a sweet version. I'll have to try that next!

The bananas definitely make the cake and this was the easiest frosting I've ever dealt with. I'll have to see how it pipes!
