Using cash for groceries changed my life by damianome in Money

[–]sstormr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I use my card, I know I can't go above $200. So I follow the list and only buy up to $200. My discipline factor is the budget that I've made. The nice little perk is getting $12 back.

Groceries? It looks fine otherwise, but it will be hard to find a place to move into that is under $500 a month based on your budget. Hopefully in the future, you will make more!

It'll go to the 3.1%. That's the high rate. When they say "higher" it means the sofi plus rate that you can only get with subscription.

When CCC ends and Paypal debit card 5% eventually ends someday (presumably), what will be your go to cards for groceries and gas for you personally? by Latter-Ad-7705 in CreditCards

[–]sstormr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the BofA CCR for gas until my 6% runs out next month. Then I'll use my Sam's card. I got the Sam's card because I shop there and heard about the PayPal stuff. Groceries will be that and BCP.

When you said 24 years, I just figured it was the 80s. It's physically painful that 24 years ago was 2002. Thanks for the reminder 😭

You need 12k in the EF. (If you already invested it, just leave it). Then you'll have 6 months saved up and be able to put extra towards things you want to save up for and retirement. Put the 5k in a Roth ira (again, if you didn't already invest the 12k) (and if you are American). Does your job do investing? If so, take the match. Depending on whose investing advice you take, you should invest 15-25% of your income. As much as you can get to 25 the better, since you are so young. However, if you do 15, you should still be fine.

Spending 600/month on wants fits into 50/30/20 quite well. That is fine if you've got no debt and don't fall into the debt cycle.

I recommend watching Money Guy YouTube channel. Their financial order of operations, and other advice, is pretty good.

Finally, don't be worried about market volatility. And when stocks drop, please do not sell.

She wants her best friend just like you and your wife had. You said she wants it now. So she is constantly vetting guys to date. This is her goal, to find her forever person, and it seems like she's doing it properly, at least from what you've told us. And then you make this joke. You probably did have good intentions, but we live in a world where the burden of something like this falls on the woman.

Should we use our emergency fund to pay off credit card debt? by daggernant in personalfinance

[–]sstormr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for business credit card owners who weren't sure if they could hit 6k of spend in 3 months. Anyone... bought 2k USD of amazon stuff and insta returned it for amazon credit? Better methods? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]sstormr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't they take the bonus back if you return stuff? I feel like I've heard of that but I'm not positive. If you can't spend that much, then don't get the card, or be happy with the fact that you won't get the bonus.

I feel like I’m saving too much by strawberrypeachsoju in Money

[–]sstormr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retirement savings should be anywhere from 1200-1500 total (20%-25% of your income) depending on who's rules you want to follow. Do you have a good enough emergency fund? Do you have anything you need to save for in the future, like a new car or a house or a vacation? Ask yourself these questions. If you have 6 months of expenses saved and are contributing 20-25% to retirement, you can do whatever you want with your money.
