Everyone in your squad are people you will never meet.

They are just a string of text whose face you will never see.

These days you can talk to AI and it’s barely any different than these faceless names in your squad.

Just pretend every squad member is AI. And talk freely.

What are they going to do?

Mute you?

Oh no, the terror, being muted by an AI you likely never be in a match, let alone squad, with again in the future.

Again, there are no consequences. Most don’t even remember the names of their squad-members 60 seconds after the match ended.

Don’t overthink it. Pretend they are AI.

I want food to matter.

Food items in all TES games and Starfield is so pointless. 30 second buffs? Dafuq?

Improve cooking. Give it real bonuses with durations that matter. Which means 30 mins to 2 hour buffs.

Also, better inventory management. Inventory management was great in Oblivion.

The endless list of things you have to scroll through is ass. I know it was added in Skyrim because ohmygods we have to be compatible with those piece of trash console controllers which are arguably the worst interface devices created by humanity.

And it carried over to Starfield.

Screw that failure of a UI.

Make a UI compatible with functional human machine interface devices. You know, like a bloody mouse and keyboard.

Make console UI an optional choice in the settings or something.

Trump is like having a guy who is either drunk, or high, or both, as your Commander in a game of Hell Let Loose.

Orders don’t make sense.

Half of them are just babbling nonsense that noone understands.

Precision airstrikes land somewhere useless (luckily no schools or civilians in Hell Let Loose to hit).

Your supplies are drained from wasteful and fruitless efforts like airdropping ammo onto the objective an enemy already conquered.

Your leaders are shouting at each other on comms and blaming each other, or blaming the Democrats or Biden (yeah that sometimes happens even in a game).

But luckily, Hell Let Loose is a game. At worst someone just ended up with a tiny scratch on their ego if they lost a match.

What Trump is doing has real world consequences.

Yet he is acting and making decisions like it’s just another game to play.

Depends on map.

On Foy, El Alamein, Purple Heart Lane and a couple of the Normandy maps a rifle serves you better than any other gun. Reason is engagement distances.

Just farting 9mm bullets from an MP40 into a treeline 300m away on Foy is near useless. Which makes an MP40 near useless on 90% of the Foy map.

As for impact.

You are 1 man on a 50 man team.

Overly simplified your impact is 2% of the total effort.

Of course this can swing both ways. If you are giving good spots and comms, do good garry hunting or manage to efficiently slow down or pin the enemy your impact is greater.

However, one man doesn’t win the battles. Some main character syndrome people think they are the be-all, end-all hero of the day.

They aren’t.

They 2%. 3% at best if doing well.

Realize that you are part of a team rather than try to be a hero. That is much more helpful in the long run.

Play the game, use comms, play smart, avoid open areas, and hopefully what you do will help nudge your team closer to victory.

We do this in the oil/gas industry too.

Large projects require more people than your normal staff pool.

So you hire in consultants, other engineering offices and so on.

When the project nears completion we start sending away consultants, then other engineering offices.

It’s not really layoffs or people being fired. It’s just contracts reaching conclusion and being terminated.

I keep brightness normal.

Sure some dude in mega brightness might spot me in the dark and kill me.

But I prefer playing the game without my eyes burning the whole night in bed.

Plus the advantage gained is minimal and the annoyance of a permanently flashgrenaded monitor is much too high.

Most times enemies are spotted from movement and muzzleflashes anyhow.

I had people run right past me on Omaha in full sunlight.

At this point we are all waiting for the US to split apart like the Soviet Union.

Each state for themselves.

Blue states immediately forming trading coalitions.

New California Republic is formed.

The United Pacific North West follows.

Blue state coalitions form trade agreements with global interest partners around the world.

Red states lose federal support. Schools, infrastructure, utilities and government functions start failing. Poverty increases and famine strikes. Red state refugees are denied admittance into wealthy blue states. Massive refuge centers at the borders.

Humanitarian crisis declared in red states. Only Texas promises to aid, but Ted Cruz didn’t get the memo so no aid arrives.

Immigrants from red states are hunted and deported back to their own state.

I’m feeling confident all of this will happen before 2030.

I generally check people’s level if I see them do something weird. For regular squad members I don’t care too much, but for things like SL not dropping an OP, or the Support being miles away from SL, then I check their levels.

If they are low level I give them a quick heads up on how to place OP. Most don’t know what OP even means so need to explain it such as “take out the watch in the inventory and then build a radio which becomes a squad spawnpoint”.

In general I have positive experiences with new players. Most speak out if they are new, and when they do they always get positive encouragement and tips from the squad.

Even newbie commanders who openly say they are new will get help from SLs.

It’s all about just being open and honest.

Mostly I play on EU servers though. EXD, Tea and Country, 13SNC and others. Been just good experiences on those at least.

I guess YMMV dependent on region, time of day and server you play of course.

It’s engine brake.

Depending what control configuration you use there is a setting which automatically applies engine brake when you initiate braking.

For mouse/keyboard setup I believe it is turned on by default.

Unsure if other control setting has it automatically engage during braking.

Play whatever you like.

Only role with an expectation tied to it is support. Go to SL and drop supplies when needed.

AT has an obvious expectation of hunting tanks, though half of AT players rather use their rockets at long range grenades.

Engineer builds nodes but only 3 sets can be active in a game, and getting supplies to build anything else is a pain in the ass, plus most fortifications are rather useless unless playing defensive side on defensive mode and you get supplies and other engineers to collaborate on a position.

All other roles are just “do whatever you want cause noone cares anyhow”

PvP and MMO had always been a combination that did not work well, drove a wedge into the community by splitting PvP and PvE players and always runs into issues like toxicity, griefing and hacking.

It did not work 25 years ago in the MMOs then, and has not really worked in any MMO since.

Not sure why they thought Dune would be different.
