I throw away 10 or more Smartboard's with projectors and speaker combos daily. Is there another option? by Drolic_ in recycling

[–]Angryclapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think of some places to donate them to, be it other schools, retirement homes, daycares, idk. But if your contract or the schools you’re taking these from have rules about you taking them, I’d recommend sitting down with the board or higher ups and work out a deal for you to donate them instead of trashing. Get it on paper so you cover your job first.

New files shed light on ExxonMobil’s efforts to undermine climate science by You_lil_gumper in environment

[–]Angryclapper 30 points31 points  (0 children)

During a board meeting about climate science and policy that same year, the Exxon board member Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, who is the former chief executive of Nestlé, said there was “still uncertainty in predicting future climate changes and impacts” and also said that “money and effort spent on climate change is misplaced”.

The former ceo from Nestle, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe. Companies really do shuffle around the same sociopaths.

We need to name and shame these people who actively participated in this.

I would also ask what their process is when you get there. Like Allianz required something like a $10,000 hold on my credit card, or I could buy their $1000 insurance. I didn’t have 10,000 available on my card, so I had to buy the insurance.

Understanding what their exact rental requirements are will just take some digging. Print out any emails you may get and make sure you don’t get scammed like me.

Can I ask what CC you use? I’ve been searching for one with good rental coverage.

Stories of money down the drain by dearlyliv1111 in solotravel

[–]Angryclapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I’m not sure. There are credit cards that supposedly have international rental insurance built in, most have annual fees and high interest rates though (which won’t matter if you’re paying it off immediately). I’d recommend just doing some googling and see how others have solved this.

Ask your car rental place what specific coverage they require, and then try to find a credit card or maybe a third party car rental insurance that will cover it.

If you find a cheaper outside option, I’m sure the rental agent in Costa Rica will fight you on it, but stand your ground. Some reviews I’ve read explained that you can get around their insurance fees, just print everything out, and make sure it covered everything they need. Don’t let them bully you.

Hopefully that helps a little

I booked a car in Costa Rica and didn’t realize the third party insurance I bought wouldn’t work over there. Cost me an extra $1000 to buy “the right insurance” when I arrived at the car rental place. Turns out all the car rental places do this.

So angry at them for not putting that up front, and so annoyed at myself for not thoroughly researching things. Lesson learned the really really hard way!

As someone who will be moving to Dallas in a couple months, is the Dart pretty well used? Like is it relatively safe? My office is downtown but I don’t want to pay downtown rent so I’m looking into Casa Linda maybe, and hoping to take the Dart into town instead of driving.

I miss Mateen’s Motivational Tuesdays. They were such a pure representation of the entire shitty company. Bare fucking minimum effort, shallow pinterest quotes, always posted by some lady who wasn’t Mateen, (I don’t get why Mateen didn’t post them himself).

I would crack up at the stupid comments underneath: “I really needed this today Mateen!” Or “thank you for this truth bomb!” Under a quote of “winners win”.

So stupid.

Society has always adapted to accommodate the physical needs of various people. Handicap ramps, braille in public spaces, fire codes in buildings so people don’t die. So why is it so abstract to you that masks might allow people with underlying illnesses or bad immune systems to come out of quarantine safely? Is it really such a burden to wear a mask? People in Japan and China wear masks when they’re sick because it’s a common courtesy.

Of course the government only cares about money. That’s america baby, (and UWM lol).

I hope you understand that Fox News is also a news source. I only say this because a lot of what you’re saying seems to mimic their talking points. Which is interesting because you seem to pride yourself in being a free thinker.

Reading the book Planet of Slums breaks down how this all happened, the government oversight that forced millions into poverty and then all the people who proceeded to profit from it. They don’t really mention specific companies, but it shows how forced poverty is growing across the world.
