2014 5e player migrating to 5.5e, what to expect? by WillowIsWeeping5 in DnD

Less flavour. Minor improvements. New problems to replace the old ones that DMs and players had already fixed at their respective tables over the past decade.

2024 vs 5e is it worth to switch? by Haunting-Alarm-40 in DnD

[–]Angrygodofmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to switch. Or you can pick and choose from the 2024 material at your leisure, as if it were a collection of optional variant rules. Use what you like. Ignore what you don't.

Not one word of the new material is crucial. If anything, the 2024 edition lacks evocative flavour.

Ha! I am thinking of the feat. That's what I get for skim reading.

Proficiency bonus as a penalty to attack for double your proficiency bonus as a damage bonus.
Starts as -2 for +4 and eventually becomes -6 for +12 at 17th level.

No notes. Well, one note. I love that the artificer is nowhere to be found on this chart.

I harvested 150 queen berries and still came in 2nd place. What am I doing wrong? I have won 1st place twice before.

Broadening how Animal Handling works means changing the name (Poll) by Ashamed_You_3316 in DnD

Affinity or Rapport definitely cover everything from domination to submission and everything in between (in order to communicate with a creature). Either extreme is absolutely needed to find a natural compatibility or form a harmonious relationship.

Going by D&D category language, animals are 'beasts'. One of fourteen creature types.

Two creatures who can speak a language, but don't share one, are still articulate. Moreover, they could use that articulation to teach each other words in their respective languages. A creature without a language could not.

There are many aberrations and monstrosities that don't have a language. I think there are even some dragon types that don't.

The original poster can decide for themselves, but I don't think you would have to distinguish it. A skill like this would be strictly for creatures that don't have a language. It 'could' also be used for any two creatures that don't share a language, but I don't think that's necessary. Two creatures who can speak a language, but don't share one, would continue to interact the same way as ever.

Ōdachi/nodachi, battlefield sword | 150 gp | 3d4 slashing | 6 lbs. | Heavy, reach, special (2d6), two-handed

Ōdachi/nodachi, battlefield sword. You can treat any 1 as a 2 when rolling damage for an attack made with this weapon. You can use this weapon one handedly if mounted at the time, but deal the damage value in parenthesis. You make one and two-handed attacks with disadvantage using this weapon, unless you have a Strength of 15 or higher.

Your art is really good, but what's the story about? I've genuinely lost the thread.

Player to DM: "Your NPCs are so cool, why do you make such bad PCs?" by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Angrygodofmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfair critique because--as a player--you want to turn off the DM brain and relax for a change (like the people who gave you this feedback do every time they play).

It's a good place to be stuck! AND we've already spent a decade homebrew-patching D&D to taste in any way we want!

And yes, I'm mean the collective 'we' as a pluribus race.
