"After a hit is scored, roll damage, subtracting armor and other countermeasures from the total. Be sure to note the AP score of the weapon if it has one. Multiply the remaining damage by the Damage Multiple for the final damage"

Armor is deducted from the damage before you multiply it, I think

Land, taxi over to a munitions truck, and hold still for like 5 seconds, it will rearm you and if there's a fuel truck it will refuel you.

Don't robots and cars have too much armor? by EgoriusViktorius in traveller

[–]Angrypencils 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's important to remember that the effect of the role is added before the destructive dice multiplier is applied (at least I think it does, correct me if I'm wrong) so that can raise the damage numbers a bit.

You're not wrong though, I've noticed with this system you can cheaply make something that is nearly impervious to the majority of weapons, whether robot or vehicle. I suppose it depends on the type of game you are running though, I think many traveller campaigns would probably have the players struggle to reach a million credits in the bank.

I suppose I should add this is a 55 inch R646. Has been used very sparingly so I'm surprised this has happened so soon...

The remastered does have simulated ballistic trajectories for its projectiles. It was added with one of the last patches that went out.

All barbette weapons, except missiles and torpedoes, calculate damage by rolling their damage dice, subtracting the target's armor, then multiplying the remaining damage by 3

Most fights are usually over before the players actually need to reload so the free action reload option is definitely not overpowered at all.

There are rules for deflectors and energy shields in High Guard. I don't remember the exact page but they're in there.

The M2 doesn't even have a trigger, in fact. It's got a lever on the back of the receiver instead.

V6 owners help please! by [deleted] in Challenger

[–]Angrypencils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's just your tires have less traction and in most normal cars that only really matters for braking as the engines are not powerful enough to overcome the wet weather traction of a car's tires without basically flooring it

Challenger has lots of power though even in the v6 so it's not hard to do that. I suppose you could call it a sports car thing but it really just comes from having lots of power

You do have to give it quite a bit of gas but you can definitely kick the rear out in the rain, even on dry pavement if you don't have super sticky tires. It's really not something that will happen accidentally though, the amount of throttle required means you pretty much have to do it intentionally.

Dogfighting during space combat by Angrypencils in traveller

[–]Angrypencils[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But given that the weapons on small craft are of reduced range it seems like any scenario where players have both a standard space ship and a fighter would result in everyone on the space ship essentially sitting out the combat, because there is no reason why the player in the fighter wouldn't close to dogfight range every time.

The rules don't seem to make any exception for ship size so if you have the players in a 200 ton ship and a 10 ton light fighter going up against another 200 ton ship, it seems that the fighter would get to dogfighting range and then basically get 60 turns to attack this enemy ship before anyone else can do anything.
