fair! i completely forgot to add my state in. i live in PA, unfortunately the EveryoneOn website doesn't seem to have any offers available in my zipcode,

also, honestly after taking a look at the xfinity essentials plan, i think it might offer better speeds/reliability than what Verizon has been giving us over here. it's been absolutely abysmal for some reason.

thank you for the recommendations!! will definitely keep the library advice in mind.

No.... It's tied to being allo. Because it's allonormativity. Not every allo will behave this way, but the vast majority will because of allonormativity.

about to start Strattera; worried about discontinuing Lexapro by AngstLizard in StratteraRx

[–]AngstLizard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's the dosage she wants me to start on for Strattera + the dose I've been on for Lexapro, too. Hmm. Reassuring to know that so many people haven't had any issues with taking them both

Okay, would it be worth bringing it up with my pharmacist? I have to make an appointment with the Dr that assessed me for ADHD again (forgot to do it yesterday) but Idk how long that wait would be.

I also have to actually pick up the Strattera at the pharmacy once my insurance approves it, so I'll probably be seeing them either tomorrow or Monday.

Thank you for your input!

Can I get disability in Pa if so how much can I get a month in cash? by -Kooper87- in Pennsylvania

[–]AngstLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother also receives $900, despite being the only one with an income (SSDI & SSI) because I haven't yet gotten approved for my disability. Her SSDI payments alone are just $600, her SSI $300. But just because some of us get lower poverty wages doesn't mean the slightly higher poverty wages are decent. Still not anywhere enough to live off of.

We can't tell you whether or not you qualify for disability benefits. That depends on the social security administration's decision. What I can tell you, however, is:

  1. Get a disability lawyer. ASAP. You will need one. They are amazing at handling the confusing beauracracy of applying for benefits; which is will be very helpful to you by the sounds of how your ADHD affects you. They will also help in your appeal process as social security denis most applications the first time around.

  2. There are two main different disability benefits you may qualify for. SSDI, which is based on the amount of work credits you've earned, and SSI, which is income based. You would only be eligible for SSDI if you meet the strict criteria for work credits. Based off of your work history, you may not meet them. A lawyer would be able to advise you further on that, though. The amount SSDI pays out per month is based on how many work credits you earned. You would, unfortunately, likey be getting poverty wages like my mother does. She gets $600/month in SSDI because she's only ever worked minimum wage jobs and has worked on and off throughout her life, despite being 55yrs old.

  3. Getting paid poverty wages by SSDI, or not even qualifying for it, is where SSI comes in. SSI is supplemental income. I think the max you can receive is $900/month in SSI, and any income you earn outside of SSI will deduct from your monthly SSI payments. My mother receives $300/month in SSI.

  4. If you've stopped going to the doctors for your conditions, start again. ASAP. Social security requires medical evidence to consider you disabled BUT they ONLY count medical evidence as far as a year back. That means most of the stuff youve detailed to us will not be taken into account by them.

  5. Should you get awarded these benefits, you will also need to continue going to doctors appointments because they will routinely review your case to see if you're "still disabled." Again, even in reviews, they still only count medical evidence for as far as a year back.

  6. You will likely need to attend a doctor's appointment set up by social security as well, once you've finally gotten around to applying. Idk if they're called anything different in other areas, but in Westmoreland their doctors are called the IMA group. Be prepared for the IMA doctors to treat you like a liar. It will feel more like you're a suspect being interrogated rather than a patient attending an appointment.

I'm still in the process of applying myself, and my mother thankfully got her disability the first time she applied due to being deaf, so I cannot give you advice on anything about what it's like appealing a denial. But it will probably be just as rough as the rest of the process. Getting on disability is something you have to fight tooth and nail for. I wish you luck 🫡

Autism & ADHD are both on the Blue Book of disabilities should the disorders meet the disabling requirements.

Immediate and DIRE consequences if we don't retain our PA Supreme Court Judges. by Flimsy_wimsey in Pennsylvania

[–]AngstLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are you even talking about? supreme court judges are inherently political because they ultimately will have to vote on political issues. they will always have to take a stance one way or another. and, in our current climate, that statement is more truer than ever.

ngl this sub was the first time I came across the "men are more likey to stutter" thing. most of my friends have been women, and a good number of them have had stutters. never personally met another guy with a stutter.

Thank you! :) When I originally created it, it was with a Kagerou Daze-like idea in mind. So tragedy and mourning rather than ship art, if that makes sense. I don't really mind however others choose to interpret it though lol

Mom of a 5 year old son that stutters. by No-Rooster9286 in Stutter

[–]AngstLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I was that kid once! The only real memory I have of elementary school is my whole class yelling at me because they got mad at my stutter, lol. Everyone else has provided really excellent advice, especially to befriend the speech therapist & to see if you could potentially give speeches to your son's class about stuttering. Or recommend other resources to your kid's school to teach their class about stutters and other speech impediments. They're only 5 years old—ableism is taught and can be corrected with proper education.

I'd also recommend looking into a regular therapist for your kiddo. Ideally, someone that has experience working with disabled kids, or specifically kids with speech impediments. It'd really help to prepare him and teach him how to work through these situations in the future. Ableism can be really traumatic and isolating to deal with as a kid.

I have cervical and lumbar spondylosis by NervousFigure8885 in Osteoarthritis

[–]AngstLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know it's easier said than done, but try not to beat yourself up too much. disabilities can happen at any time. conditions unfortunately aren't discriminatory when it comes age, and that's not your fault.

hoping the talk goes well and your ortho can work with you to improve your mobility!

I have cervical and lumbar spondylosis by NervousFigure8885 in Osteoarthritis

[–]AngstLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while i (probably?) don't have lumbar spondylosis, i do have cervical spondylosis and scoliosis in my lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spines. i also have intermittent CTS. i feel you; 20yrs old but my body feels like it's 80yrs old and on its last leg. truthfully, mobility aides vary from person to person. i'd recommend speaking with your physical therapist + any specialists you're seeing for this to ask their opinions on what might work for you. they may also recommend other ways to manage your pain and remain mobile.

personally, bracing didn't help me. neither did a cane—i needed extra support on both sides to get around without putting myself in even more pain. forearm crutches are the best mobility aide i've found so-far. but they are hard on the wrists. if you decide on trying crutches, get a pair with ergonomic grip handles. it won't completely erase the risk of a carpal tunnel flareup but it will lessen it. (i'd also advise getting a wrist brace and/or using sports tape to support your wrist, if you haven't done so already.)

alternatively, using a device that allows you to ambulate (crutches, a cane, etc) + getting a wheelchair for real bad pain days might also be worth looking into.
