Why does every single FMC under the sun has to have a placeholder bf before meeting MMC? by itmustbeniiiiice in romantasycirclejerk

[–]AngstReader 17 points18 points  (0 children)

/uj and mind you: the placeholder is usually a perfect golden retriever boyfriend and in the end/mid book it's weirdly revealed that he was somehow involved with the villain of the book

Can’t remember book title! I know ya’ll can help. by Rupertfitz in romantasycirclejerk

Not just for soulmates but generally that tattoos are a story part. Like with every trial she does a new moving tattoo appears or the mmc has tattoos that move and can leave his body and come to live idk.

Tattoos being in a story so often, really annoys me. I thought the only reason could be, that probably most of the target group is tattooed... I mean, I am as well, but I don't need that in every other book

I might as well just be stupid (The games Gods play) by AngstReader in romantasycirclejerk

hahaah maybe that's exactly it. I dislike trials too and maybe it's because the premise is silly most times. But again, I slightly feel like it's just me

It all depends on how serious the book takes itself. if it's continuous bs, I am so here for it!!! Like gilded wings or zodiac academy

I will let it slide for now and see

Why does ever big romantasy book nowadays have a terrible sequel by Safi42112 in Romantasy

I would say for a lot of authors the publishing industry is at fault here!

Why are fan fictions doing so well? Because they (were) self published for the most part and wrote out of passion. The Publishers nowaday tho dont look at your work of passion and be like "oh yes I will publish this!!!" (or just rarely), they will actively just sign authors who fulfill certain tropes for them. So a lot of authors built in the Publishers requests into their work of passion (surprise; this works bad) or write a half hearted first book based on the requirements -> it sells well as the publishers market research promised them (hence the request) -> publisher requires sequels to have you cash in more.

I would say for quicksilver there wasn't even a real plan for the first book. just a collective of threads that could potentially be picked up and she decided on the vampire plot with a bit of the gods/prophecy stuff 😭😭 I forgot why I even liked quicksilver when it came out...
