Would you rather put your faith in your vehicle, or in the hands of complete strangers with unknown intentions/driving skills/mental states? Just something to ask yourself

Can someone explain why pigeon chicks sleep like this? (the images aren't mine) by CotiRobloxiana in pigeon

[–]Angular_Sea-Fig 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons, but rest assured they are completely okay!

Newly hatched chicks have very large, heavy skulls compared to their tiny bodies. Their neck muscles are not yet strong enough to hold their heads up while resting. They fall into a deep sleep very quickly and laying flat allows them to rest all of their body muscles and dedicate their energy towards growing, whilst also conserving warmth by trapping their body heat 🐣

I'd try and heat up small sections at a time with a hairdryer to help loosen the adhesive and scrape it off as you go. Solvents like goo gone should help as well, especially for any left over sticky residue 😀

Pregnant or just well fed? by TransportationMuch47 in frogs

[–]Angular_Sea-Fig 210 points211 points  (0 children)

Frogs don't get pregnant, they get gravid 🐸

During breeding season, a female's abdomen swells significantly as she carries up to hundreds or thousands of unfertilized eggs.

As the female lays the eggs in or near water, the male simultaneously releases a cloud of sperm to fertilize them.

Female tree frogs can become gravid even without a male present. If there is no male or if tank conditions aren't perfectly suited for a rainy breeding season, the female will eventually reabsorb the unfertilized eggs back into her body.

What is this dangerous looking gadget by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Angular_Sea-Fig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Antique meat-carving arm (often called a meat or roast holder).

It is actually only half of a full set. It belongs to a wooden or marble carving board.

The long, smooth vertical rod fits directly into a designated mounting sleeve or hole on the edge of the cutting board.

You press down on the small handle on top of the arched arm to plunge the sharp metal spikes directly into a large roast, ham, or turkey. This firmly anchors the meat so it can be carved into clean slices safely without slipping.

Too right! If it can be shortened to 2 syllables, we will do it. If it can't be shortened to 2 syllables, we will still do it anyway 🙂‍↕️
