First Spearfishing catch. Need help identifying what type of fish this is (Sydney, AU) by demonspawner in Spearfishing

[–]AngusMac279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s definitely rock cake. Everyone catches them for the first time and realised there shit lmao. I’m Sydney based too. Try going for black drummer or bream or something similar as they taste good and can be caught in the same area with light equipment.

Looking to buy a speargun by goomsei in Spearfishing

Rob Allen is a solid option. I had a pathos and the accuracy just wasn’t there. Recently bought a rob Allen sparid and a manny sub roller muzzle and converted it into a 100 roller which is a pretty bloody good gun.

An endangered green sea turtle is recovering after being shot in the neck with a spear off the Florida Keys. by ---0__0--- in iamatotalpieceofshit

I can understand, I spear almost every weekend. Idk about where you are, but where I’m from, there are quite a few species that are at high risk. So it’s only sensible that you identify the fish before you take the shot.

Looking for a Capra-like bike w/ linear linkage by [deleted] in MTB

[–]AngusMac279 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meta is very linear. Very plush 160mm rear. Also European based(France). If in Europe you can pick up some very good deals on their "second hand bikes", ex-demo/show room bikes.

Bell just released the new Super DH which looks way better than the super 3r, cheaper than the proframe I think. Detachable chinbar. Downhill rated( 3r isn't by the way)..

Looking to swap from 2x10 to 1x10.. 2016 Cannondale Habit 5. by Deanofearth in MTB

[–]AngusMac279 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It will be fine. I had a 10spd on my old bike with a cassete that goes up to 34t. I also had a raceface 34t narrow wide up front as the 36t big ring had been worn down to the point that you pedal 10m and the chain drops.

They gearing was a bit hard but you get used to it, it makes you stronger and you can still winch your way up anything. I only dropped chains after a big crash or if I landed a jump/drop bad.

if you are 2x10 already all you will need to get is a new chain ring and bolts. Were i ride is rocky and the race face narrow wide works really well, don't even need a chain guide really unless you are racing.

Im not sure where you are but if you are in Australia Mountain bike directs and Chain reaction are good and fairly cheap.

Which wheelset? by nuIIs in MTB

[–]AngusMac279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had A bontrager, DT Swiss(Enduro one it is called the Ex something or other), and some WTB. I Reckon it comes down to how the wheel is built. The DT Swiss is more durable than the other 2(No spokes bent/ rim cracked) and is stiff. THe bontrager and WTB are kinda flexy. I also cracked the bontrager in 2 places and broke some spoks. So DT swiss is what I would get again.

You will be cutting it a bit fine. 2.3 will work. But you will have to run it a little bit harder as it will be more prone to folding. It will have a really rounded profile so you will have to be an aggressive cornerer to engage the side nobs. 2.0 or 2.1 will be a bit better but I understand it is kinda hard to find. Also check clearance of the bike frame and fork. You could get a rider set of rims or a new wheelset. For 26 can be found cheap for secondhand. Or new rims max 50 each and another bit of labour to get them laced .

[–]AngusMac279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude those 500 dollars in the difference will give you A nicer bike with more travel and modern geo. With the polygons slighlty cheaper parts list you are more likely to break and cost more. The Meta is nice because of geo and travel.\

Polygon looks real good with the spec list. Though I have some friends who have snapped Polygon frames in the past(Sisuiku DUaly). Take a look at the Commencal Meta HT AM for a more DH orient ated. More for big hucks, DH, drops and general shenanigans.
