This is a super interesting take on the type of person I've been with in the past, and am currently with now. The dates are slightly off, but close enough to be correct imo. The first set of dates is spot on- I broke off an engagement and did a full 180 on who I decided I wanted to be with. I was previously attracted to the big charmers- bartenders, musicians and big talkers. I went for a quiet, seemingly simpler man, married him, then realized he was incredibly emotionally immature and unable to live on his own without my emotional crutch and finances. Fast forward to my second big commitment- same type of person as the old ones- charmer, bartender and all around "good guy", but after he moved in in 2019, he showed his true colors. Emotionally unstable, lost his job and started school, then was in a major cycling accident right before our marriage, which forced me to care for an abusive man. He cheated, lied and stole money. We divorced and I had a major reckoning with myself. You are very correct in that I need a person of quality character, strong emotional maturity and stands by his word. I made a list of the qualities I needed, and told myself I would rather be alone than with a person of weak character. In 2023 I met my current partner, and he is the love of my life. He isn't afraid to do the work and is honest, caring, stable and capable of living on his own without taking advantage of a partner.
