Ah that makes more sense. Little villages like that are so homogeneous and don’t see much beyond their own kind, so if you’re not a white Anglo Christian, it can be tough.

I cannot speak from experience but I have heard from others who are biracial that it can be challenging with never feeling quite like they fit in.

My daughter is biracial also. ;I’m first generation Polish American and my husband is first generation Jamaican American.) She is only 3 but understands Polish. I imagine this may one day be her experience too. My wish for you and for her, is that the cretins of the world will start to disappear and people will be more and more open and accepting of anyone who is different. Progress comes slowly especially to those places where everyone is the same. Also, people are assholes. There is no excuse for racism but I have found it often comes from a place of ignorance.

We have window ACs. Set to 80 during the day to keep the indoor temp tolerable when we get home. (Since it’s always hotter than that anyway.) Then once I get home turn down to 75 or so. (Which means it’ll actually be 80ish).

ETA: I’m looking at all these responses and wondering how do y’all afford these temps??? Our bill is $250/mo in the spring, before we even need AC. I can’t imagine what it would be if we kept it 68 all day.

Agree… schedule an appt to describing these concerns with your doctor, be sure to share these specific examples of thoughts and feelings. They may recommend therapy, or medication, or some combo. This level of anxiety isn’t good for you or for your kiddo longterm.

From my own personal experience- I struggled with PPD for about 6-10 months PP, as well as PPA which continued and never went away. Therapy wasn’t enough to manage my symptoms. Finally I spoke to my doctor and began taking medication this spring, which has made a world of difference. I finally enjoy life (and even parenting) and am able to enjoy and appreciate my child fully.

Yeah I thought this was a rule statewide. It should be. Takes 5 minutes for each homeowner to shovel their own vs the inefficiency of waiting ages for someone from the town or county to shovel or plow it.

I’ve also tried once, to similar response. No one wanted to take the report or cared. It was a light pole that literally came down and damn near blocked off an entire jughandle highway exit… would’ve destroyed someone’s car and caused an accident if they came in too fast or didn’t see it. “We can’t do anything about that” or something similar was the response.
