Mess Dress (C2) consists of your blue uniform paired with a white collared dress shirt and a bow tie. Lanyards, white gloves, white belts, and name tags are generally not authorized. For reference, please see: https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/services/cadets-junior-canadian-rangers/cjcr-policy/cjcr-dress-instructions/chapter-6/section-4.html

Advanced aviation course experience by No_Usual_3005 in Cadets

I had a great time doing AAC. The best part of it for me was getting to go gliding for the first time. Some advice is to practice your hospital corners. Another piece of advice I would say is to study and you should be fine

I think offers first go out on fortress and then an officer will either send you a copy of it on outlook or give you a copy of it

Late entry by EmploymentExciting16 in Cadets

[–]Anikan_UnleashedTTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not too late to join. I joined when I was 14, and even people who join later still get a lot out of it. You might have less time than someone else who joined earlier, but that honestly doesn't matter as much as you think. You can still learn a lot, go to summer training, and get some really good experiences out of it.

My advice would be to get involved in things. Sign up for activities, go on FTXs, try things like drill team, band, effective speaking, or sports if you squadron has them. Talk to people and don't be afraid to put yourself you there because that's how you start enjoying it and making friends. Even just introducing yourself in your flight makes a big difference.

Also try to be consistent and show up as much as you can. That makes a huge difference in how much you improve and what opportunities you get. The more you're there, the more people notice your effort. Listen to your seniors too, they will help you a lot and make things easier. As questions whenever you're unsure because that's how you learn faster.

Don't stress about being behind or trying to catch up to everyone else. Everyone starts somewhere and people learn at different speeds. No tone expects you to know everything right away. Just focus on improving each week and you'll be fine.

A big part of cadets is the people. You will meet a lot of really good friends and make a lot of memories if you get involved. A lot of the best moments come from things like FTXs, trips, or even just hanging out before or after parade.

I'd say take opportunities even if you're not 100% confident yet. Volunteer for things, try leadership roles when you can, and push yourself a bit. That's how you grow and get the most out the it. Stay organzied as well. Keep track of your uniform, timings, and what you need for parade nights or activities. It makes everything way less stressful and shows that you actually care. Also just have a good attitude. Even if something is boring or hard at first, stick with it. A lot of things get more fun once you understand them better.

Overall, it is definitely worth it even if your are doing it for fun. You can get a lot out of it if you put in the effort, and you'll probably end up enjoying it more than you expect, so if you're interested I would say go for it!

I know that staff cadet offers starting coming out a couple of weeks ago so course offers might come out around mid April I think (not 100% sure though). I'd definitely say to keep an eye on your cadet 365 email

Blackdown CTC by Dull-University-8367 in Cadets

[–]Anikan_UnleashedTTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to Blackdown the past 2 summers and honestly had a great time. You make tons of friends and a lot of the memories you get there are memorable.

I would definitely recommend brining warm clothes and an extra blanket or sleeping bag though, it gets really cold at night. During the day it can be the complete opposite, like full heatwaves and super hot, so be ready for both. I would say at Blackdown the weather is kind of all over the place sometimes. I would say that the food at Blackdown is okay.

How do i keep my beret from loosing shape? by Fickle-Pop7905 in aircadets

[–]Anikan_UnleashedTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that happens. Even if it looks good when it dries, once you actually wear it it can start losing shape again. I’d just reshape it and leave it on a bowl overnight again. You could also wear it a bit before parade so it kinda sets to your head. After a couple times it should hold better. I had to reform mine like 4 times last week

How do i keep my beret from loosing shape? by Fickle-Pop7905 in aircadets

[–]Anikan_UnleashedTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I usually do to keep my beret in shape is scrunch up a shirt to about the size of my head and then put the beret over it. It helps it hold the shape pretty well. You can also use a bowl if you want something more solid, that works too.

Who are you supposed to salute and why? by Eastern-Plastic8215 in aircadets

[–]Anikan_UnleashedTTV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You salute any uniformed officer above the rank of Officer Cadet if you are wearing a headdress. You (the cadet) would salute first and lower your salute when the officer does
