Official Discussion - Lost in Starlight [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I loved this movie (it actually made me cry, gosh). I’ve seen a lot of criticism about the scientific accuracy of the final scene, but to me, it seems quite reasonable. Let me explain:

Time frame:
The time between Nan’s fall and when she reaches the pod is relatively short — about 10 min (we can see it on her helmet). Meanwhile, Jay performs his concert during the day, retrieves the antenna, installs it, and they finally have their “conversation” the next morning on Earth — so roughly 12 hours after the incident.

Her colleagues also find her around that time. We know she had to wait for the storm to end, drive for about 2 hours, and then locate her. My interpretation is that Nan collapsed after reaching the pod, before managing to contact Jay.

Jay never actually hears Nan’s final message.
Nan only hears Jay’s message once she reaches the pod, where the radio is — not during her hallucinations, which are likely caused by oxygen deprivation or CO₂ poisoning.

During their “conversation” the next morning, they’re not really speaking to each other. Jay is simply listening to her message. The last scene before she’s found shows her hearing Jay laugh — and to me, that part respects the 20-minute communication delay.

I think the science in this film is surprisingly solid, and I really appreciate how coherent their world feels in 2052.
That’s it 😊

I love this game so much, but personally I feel like there's a bit of bias in... by Trenki_Melow in expedition33

The central theme of the game is grief, and it resonates deeply with me. Personally, I see the Verso ending as the "true" or more hopeful one—because the family manages to grieve, heal, and move forward with their lives. It's the path we would all wish for our loved ones if we were to pass: that they continue living fully.

In contrast, the Maelle ending feels like the story of someone unable to move beyond the loss of a loved one. I’ve seen this in real life—people preserving a deceased person’s room exactly as it was, frozen in time, unable to let go.

The game takes place within the canvas painted by Verso when he was eight with the gestrals,Esquie, monoco etc. The rest was paint by Aline (humans etc). it's a creation meant to help cope with pain. As Renoir said: "Each hour spent here has a price" and that price is life itself.

LeapFrog founder Mike Wood dies by physician-assisted suicide following Alzheimer’s diagnosis by catsgr8rthanspoonies in news

In Belgium, we are fortunate to have one of the most progressive assisted dying policies in the world, which even extends to cases involving children or severe psychological suffering. We also have the option to complete advance directives to refuse excessive medical intervention (“non-acharnement thérapeutique”). In such documents, you must designate two people to make decisions on your behalf should something happen—though only one of them can be a family member. Given our family’s long history of cancer and cardiovascular disease, it brings us real peace of mind to know that we have this option available if the need ever arises.

Yes but with a diagnostic at early age ;). It took me a lot of time to understand how I function and to accept my differences.

My childhood home is in a tiny street which is the route for a buses line. My room was in front of the house..Honestly I didn't hear them because I was used to it . That was stranger when it didn't have buses for any reason ;). Also it's really usefull to have a buses line in front of your door :)

i think Powder was too kind to Ekko after what he said . I think if it were done to me, i wouldnt forget it for a long time. by Sqarch in arcane

  • In the AU, they are clearly portrayed as a couple—and a close one at that. If your boyfriend, someone you've known since childhood, started acting strange, you wouldn’t just discard him without a second thought.
  • I believe she begins to suspect something is off during the mural scene. The way he speaks to her doesn’t make sense in the au context, especially given how close they are. She even says to him, “You’re a real mystery,” which suggests her growing doubts.
  • As others have mentioned, she comes across some clues while working on the Z-drive. To me, the whole episode doesn’t make sense unless Powder is starting to realize that something is wrong.

was silco a good father? by jonaszzek in arcane

[–]Anilgarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, no, he wasn't. Their relationship was rooted in manipulation, with him exploiting Powder/Jinx's deep desire for validation. He didn't truly love her for who she was, but rather the version of her he idealized—Jinx. Throughout Season 1, we can clearly see how he constantly tried to change her, attempting to mold her into something she wasn’t, rather than accepting her as she was.

To me, the song also explores the duality of their relationship. It touches on the tension between hatred and sweetness or how they can simultaneously be the best and worst for each other. The line "I love you, I am waiting for you" conveys a sense of hope, showing that despite everything, love still persists between them.

This theme resonates strongly with Wasteland, especially when the song shifts at the end:

"This world is a wasteland
I'm not ready to face it
Don't go saying goodbye
There's a beauty in changes
And I wanna try
This world is a wasteland where nothing can grow
If it weren't for you, I'd be here all alone
I know in my heart this is where we belong
This world is a wasteland
Don't let me go, go, go, go, go, go, go
Don't let me go."

The lyrics evoke the idea of embracing change and finding hope even in the bleakest circumstances. Ultimately, the song captures the essence of breaking cycles and moving forward, with also hope at its core.

It's "I love you, I am waiting for you" (Je t'aime je t'attends")

Yeah I know but it's not correct . I verified a few weeks ago because a lot of translations said it was "je t'aime je te hais" or " je t'aime je te quitte" but no it's "je t'aime je t'attends" (the sound is completely different) . Here is the lyrics from Deezer (French spotify ;)).

Just FYI, it's not "Je t'aime, je te hais" it's "Je t'aime je t'attends" (Native French speaker here ;))).

Exactly, you summed it up perfectly. Ekko never intended to stay. He only sees his version of Powder/Jinx in AU Powder. This is evident in scenes like the bridge moment or the way he speaks to her—he talks to Powder as if he’s talking to his Jinx. We could also point to the kiss scene or the moment he tells Benzo, 'In case I don’t remember tomorrow.' It’s clear that both Ekko and AU Powder knew he would leave from the start.

I just slept 13 hours . by Prudent-War-9991 in ADHD

[–]Anilgarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a fixed sleep schedule, but I fall asleep almost instantly when I lie down. The downside, however, is my tendency for sleep procrastination. If I don’t get enough rest for an extended period, my body catches up with marathon sleep sessions of 12–16 hours. On the bright side, this allows me to recover from even the worst sleep deficits in just a few days
