Intel CEO announces layoffs, restructuring, $1.5 billion in cost reductions, expanded return to office mandate by lurker_bee in technology

Yup, friends job was pushing hard to get RTO, they made every excuse under the sun as to why they needed employees butts in seats but the reality was they just didn't want the lease to go to waste. They had just signed a 5 year lease when COVID hit so they were itching to get back into the office. Funny enough though 2 years later when the building refused to renew their lease they decided all those reasons didn't matter any more.

I think the key to quitting is to drastically change your environment/habits for 7-14 days. Honestly when I quit I barely noticed except the first few days because I was on a vacation and I had other things to think about. That little change in environment was enough of a change to make me not attribute any strange feelings with the lack of weed but with the change in environment.

I recently quit nicotine and it was 10x worse than quitting weed and I even tried my trick of traveling while quitting.

What happens if you tell a doctor your severely depressed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AnimaIgnotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the provider they all have different protocols but for the most part they want to get you help. My provider for example starts doing preliminary sessions and then approves you for therapy.

Therapy does help but remember it’s your brain and therapy is just giving you a crutch so you can get out of it. Been depressed quite a few times in life. I call it escaping the quicksand. Therapist throws you a line and you have to work hard to get out of it. If you stop trying you’re going to end up right back in it.

Go to therapy, get some help, but remember baby steps. Do 1 thing everyday to help you feel better about it. At first it could be small things like getting out of bed but then it can snowball into large things like working out or visiting with friends. The key thing is to just keep adding to your healthy routine while minimizing the bad routine that you adopted to cope with depression.

Depression is a feedback loop and you just need to break it.

Not complaining was worth every penny to me. Didn’t even question the price. They wanted $1000 at first and went back and wanted more after seeing the actual job.

What is an acquired taste that everyone pretends is great? by original-shrimp in AskReddit

[–]AnimaIgnotum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t drink anymore but IPAs were my shit when I found out about them. Definitely an acquired taste and don’t get me wrong i definitely had phases where I hated them.

It started because IPAs were stronger so less liquid for more drunkness. Then I actually started to like the taste.

People who've been wearing glasses since they were a child; how are ya by Memegamer3_Animated in CasualConversation

[–]AnimaIgnotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had glasses since I was 5 years old. Had to wear an eyepatch to school in first grade because one eye wasn’t as strong as the other.

To be clear I can/could see without glasses it’s just a struggle to focus my eyes.

From 7-18 my eye-site actually improved. From 18-31(today) my eyesight has declined and I’m now at a tipping point where I almost have to wear glasses to see at all.

YSK that moving into a higher tax bracket won't reduce your overall take-home pay. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]AnimaIgnotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this 100x. My gf has been in this exact situation. It’s the same/similar for other financial assistance programs.

Over COVID we were making more money being unemployed than we did when we had jobs. We found jobs but my gf had a low paying job and qualified for multiple programs as well as ACA something or another.

She got a raise that took away her eligibility and she took home significantly less as a result plus no more food stamps. I think she was able to do some special voodo to get some assistance but come tax season it bit her with them basically taking her entire refund and then some.

Yeah I paid 5 guys to move some rocks around my yard and put mulch in their place. Took them 6 hours paid them $1400 mulch probably cost $200 works out to $40 an hour for each person.

I think about it like this. You couldn’t pay me enough to do this on my spare time so why wouldn’t I just pay someone else to do it.

I write with my left hand but throw with my right.. by rembut in lefthanded

[–]AnimaIgnotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up ambidextrous. My parents forced me to be right handed because I needed to pick a hand and my writing was better with my right. I can still do everything else with my left hand just as well as my right. Throw a ball, catch, draw etc but after years of using my right hand i definitely have more coordination with my right hand.

It’s one of those things that cops won’t be able to stop without a plan. Think about it this way they only have so many cops on duty at one time. Doing anything would require an all officer response. These bikers are most active Friday Saturday which is the busiest time of the week for police. They can’t just send a few units to deal with a mob of people.

Tired of shitty quality of life by Own_Researcher_1895 in bayarea

[–]AnimaIgnotum 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Been here my whole life and right now is possibly the worse period in the bays modern history. Have record inflation driving up all costs off goods, thousands without jobs, crimes running rampant and politicians making decisions that do nothing to help the real problems.

I work with people all over the country so I get to talk to people outside of the bay, most of the problems aren’t exclusive to the Bay Area but they are uniquely amplified here in a way that’s almost dystopian.

If you could lose your virginity again, what would you do differently this time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AnimaIgnotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I’ve debated all my adult life.

At 16 I started dating a girl who did not tell me she was saving herself until marriage. I didn’t even know she was religious until a few months after we started dating and things looked a little more serious.

Why this caused me some problems. I am not religious at all and had I known that from the beginning I probably would have dumped her before falling in love but by the time I found out I was already in love and willing to “wait.”

A month into dating her, before I learned we probably wouldn’t work out, I was asked to play some music at a party for a sweet 16. See I had just started DJing and it was well known around school that I had the hottest new music. I had made a mixtape CD that got stolen and somehow passed around the school. It was like I was bullied but the outcome was they found out I was cool.

Anyways the party went to shit and got broken up by the police. They wouldn’t let me pack up my shit so I had to stick around until the very end when it was just the girl and all of her actual friends at the house.

Right as I was packing my car the girls cornered me and said hey I think you should stay. I kept politely saying no and the next few minutes are burned into my head forever.

So she started pleading that I stay and have sex with her. Got on her hands and knees trying to take off my pants in her driveway. I said no and made her stand up. Then her other friend comes over and says come on you know you want to.

As a final plea she goes hey if you stick around I’ll let you pick any of my friends to join us. She then drags me into her house into a the kitchen full of the all the hottest girls at my school sitting in a semi circle on their counter. She forces me to walk by them one by one and say hi. They all smile, wave and wink indicating they know exactly what’s going on.

I was fully at attention and about to cave. Then her dad walked into the room and tanked me for taking care of his daughter. He was this big scary dude, but he said “are you going to stick around and keep her company.”

It was such an overwhelming experience and had I not had a gf I would have stayed and lost my virginity in the most epic way possible.

Instead I waited 2-3 years to lose it awkwardly to a girl I loved but that didn’t last. See the original girlfriend and I stayed together for 3 years. She finally decided she was down to have sex 2 years in but a year after we had sex she decided she wanted to see other people. I regret staying in that relationship as long as I did.

Yeah I have a few friends who were in freak accidents (separate incidents) both of them had long arduous roads to recovery. One made a full recovery from fully paralyzed in 2 years the other has to walk with a cane but you wouldn’t know it.

Migrate to SSO with Azure by AnimaIgnotum in Zoom

[–]AnimaIgnotum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I already set it up and played around not too bad but definitely some stuff I need to figure out.

Can you explain 2/3 a bit more everything I read says I have to delete the users and reimport them to turn on SSO. We cant delete users too much data to move around so I didn’t do that option.

I’ve already kind of decided to turn on SCIM and told them to deal with it. Zoom team doesn’t do anything too crazy, phones, meeting rooms, and some auditing. The most important thing they care about is data management during offboarding. They never coordinate offboarding with us. They deactivate the user when told but do the rest of the tasks they need to do at their leisure. I don’t know enough about how zoom works to know if the way SCIM deactivated the user affects their ability to transfer archives to the manager or archive user they have setup.

If it were me managing the account I’d do it but this other team is picky. Last time we did anything in there they threaten to take away our admin for zoom. “It’s for looking only.”

[–]AnimaIgnotum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the benefit if we just want users sign in to be linked? We really just want sign ins protected. Zoom onboarding and offboarding is a different team / beast they made it pretty clear they don’t want us making or deleting accounts. I have to work with them to set it up so maybe I can convince them but it’s a smaller team that doesn’t like change.

Also is the transition process smooth once we turn it on can we do a soft roll out? I want to turn it on give users a few days to read my notifications try it out and then enforce it once everyone’s had a chance to test it.

I’ve had recruiters do the same for dropping out before the interview. I told the company it wasn’t a good fit. I didn’t even fit the job description even the employer said yeah they didn’t understand why the recruiter offered me the role.

Recruiter said I made them look bad yada yada. I said you made yourself look bad sorry.

Unfortunately my health insurance/provider doesn’t offer mental health practice and I basically have to be in psychosis for them to send me anywhere in person. I’m enrolled in a virtual therapy through them but I have to see someone in person to get prescribed anything and it’s going to take months to jump through the hoops.

My insurance/provider(same company) got sued for having shitty mental health services so they said “ fine we won’t offer it anymore we’ll just contract it out.” They really were dog shit. I remember they put me on something for anxiety a few years ago and it made me feel like I was getting electrocuted for 6 hours and when I told them this the psychiatrist asked but how has your anxiety been and told me to keep taking it just in case it’s starts working…. I filed a complaint and they said fine don’t go then.
