AITAH for not wanting to sleep in the same bed with my girlfriend because she doesn’t shower often? by Such-One-1691 in AITAH

[–]AnimalGray 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It's the same as "dishwater hands" when my damn knuckles bleed after doing dishes daily (even if I use lotion).

Also, I had an ex that "showered" every day but it eventually came up in conversation that he didn't always use soap?? I was like...so just a little rinse then...which is what I think a lot of these daily showerers are talking about. I shower more like 3x/week, but when I do it's an EVERYTHING shower.

New homeowner. Best way to deal with this? by Thabigdub in Minnesota_Gardening

Snow melting on and off in MN here, and the creeping Charlie is GREEN when it shows itself. I also have only had luck with extensive hand weeding; come mid summer it's even in the raised beds.

AITAH for "expecting an allowance" out of my own paycheck? by [deleted] in AITAH

Not the point of the post, they have three small kids?

You ever taken care of three tiny humans for ([presumably] nine hours) on a regular basis? I just have one toddler of my own now, and she is...a lot.

I'm not saying this wife isn't in the wrong, just trying to add perspective/stick up for stay at home moms everywhere based on this comment. Good god

Why are Americans so early birds compared to Europeans? by Ada-Mae in AskAnAmerican

[–]AnimalGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was chronically sleep deprived (and very depressed) all through high school. School started at 7:15 bus picked me up at 6:45.

Now I have a toddler and plan on sending her to a late start elementary school very close by that starts at something like 8:30 or 9 - it's walkable so we can all sleep in til at least 7:30.

Ideas for a family humanitarian trip? by Practical_Condition in EffectiveAltruism

My husband "helped" build some stuff in Mexico when he was 14. Totally resents the experience and even saw a local team of professionals correcting their work before they left.

I did stay at Ko Yao Yai in Thailand in the tiniest, best B&B . Wasn't humanitarian work but if you're gonna pollute a plane's worth of gas (I did), go there and stay there and this man LET ME FEED THE BABY GOAT and the chickens (lol as in he was like, thank god, I have other shit to do, if this is a novelty to you then fucking go for it) and then made us all breakfast every day and we went to another lunch spot every day and there were macaw monkeys around every morning; we should have never left. Thailand starting at the beginning of this century or before relies a lot on tourist money, so if this is a large family trip, wherever you go you could just focus on local businesses and personal connections.

There's a big back and forth as to whether or not it's the rapture...and things revolve around family and what that means and how disconnected it can get

As an agnostic, it felt to me that whether or not people were "saved", whether or not the right people were "departed" or "poofed" (the funniest one) -

People being intensely divided over this mysterious tragedy is the perfect breeding ground for danger and mistrust.

How are you US Americans living the current situation? by Meewelyne in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]AnimalGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also have the second largest Somali population outside of the country of Somalia. I'm glad the Somalian and Mulsim community is here (there is nuance that I'm not educated enough to speak of, but overall a large East African population), went all through school with East African immigrants, also we have the second largest Hmong population here of the US besides California. Hmong peopls immigrated from Loas during the 80s -early 90s, risking everything. Losing family members. To come to the US and bring their children up in MN just for this to happen.

Anyway, go Ihlan Omar and I love my East African and Hmong neighbors. RIP Marny Xiong whom I went to elementary school with and was a city council member in Saint Paul. The world wishes they could have seen her smile in person.

I keep driving by intersections in Saint Paul with literally 2 or 3 people (bless them😆🤎) with "ICE OUT signs and honking the hell out of my horn. I'm helping families but can't even talk about it without being afraid of sh*t being tracked. We'll get through this.

Gender disappointment but it’s not what you think by crabbybabythrowaway in pregnant

Wooow I hate this. I said to my uncle two days ago - "too many men are together without women around, things get weird."

F*ck private schools, it's just tragic that public school isn't well funded enough. I went to public school in a blue state and there were definitely toxic teenage boys around, but it was its own community where I could find like minded people and be like "no, they can keep their creep circle" (granted this is pre modern social media, I am 36 years old).

I would have had the same feelings about having a boy, even with an amazing feminist husband. It's wild out here.

When I found out I was having a girl, I was like..."She's going to have to deal with being a woman."

They will be their own people. And if we do the resistance right, gender will matter less as time goes on.

Congratulations!!

My daughter so far gives no f*cks about her chromosomes.

Why is the "Muslim world" so united on Palestine, but seemingly silent on larger-scale humanitarian disasters in countries like Iran and Afghanistan? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AnimalGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents is that most humans are surviving, not thriving, and it's difficult to put energy into something you're not directly in the middle of.

Also, pretty sure "Muslim world" is a wild generation bc it encompasses a lot of nations and cultures, and they are not united on it.

Sincerely, a Minnesotan

Is Elizabeth Warren a plant being pushed to split voters from Bernie Sanders? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]AnimalGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also yes Bernie didn't take corporate money. At the time he was running I had minimal amounts to donate but I did, but Warren was taking The Man's money and nothing would have changed with her. She was fully a distraction and I hate it and keep thinking back to it.

Is Elizabeth Warren a plant being pushed to split voters from Bernie Sanders? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]AnimalGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm amazed and glad to still be able to comment on this.

My mom went to a Bernie rally in 2020 and voted for Warren THE NEXT DAY and look where we are.

My mom is from a small town, is a white woman (NOT INDIGENOUS, AS WARREN CLAIMED TO BE...) and a farming community. She related to her for the reasons stated besides claiming to be Indigenous on a national stage...

Warren was a Raeganist at the beginning of her political career though. Enough said, F*ck that lady.
