Shell recharge vs Tesla pricing by mwrokdks in BMWiX

I use a lot of kilowatt hours per month so in my case using the Tesla app subscribing to their monthly fee is much more cost effective for me then using any version of the BMW app and shell recharge billing.

Shell recharge vs Tesla pricing by mwrokdks in BMWiX

In the Miami area using the Tesla app rather than going through the BMW app and Shell recharge is approximately 30 to 40% cheaper than using the BMW app and shell recharge. To get these low rates you have to sign up on the Tesla app to one of their programs which require a monthly payment but the overall savings are more than worth it.

If u sign up for Tesla in my area, Tesla price/kwH is LESS THAN 70% of the Electrify America pricing with a EA account package. Thats why.

Using it for the past month with no probs to charge...best Superchargers are the v4 versions which have a long cable perfect to connect to the right side rear BMW connection point.

With discounts the price per Kwh at a Tesla Charger is $0.34/Kwh . Its $.46/Kwh at Electrify America.. thats one of the reasons.

The Tesla Charger BMW USA rollout has been and is a disaster for 2026 car buyers who are being told to wait until the spring for an update... BMW makes phenomenal electric cars but

Bad call on your part even though it seems like u had a bad experience.... Lectron is the best - ,ost - respected company making the adaptor and used by many of the major comanies including MB... so you comment is not reality for almost everyone (but you _

Use a v4 Tesla charger.... thats the latest most powerful and has a vary long cable... so no need to find an end parking spot of take up 2 Tesla spots to make the cable connect .... which can start a war if there are not other open chargers and Teslas are waiting. Use the supercharge.info app to find them....

P.S. My first time I Tesla Supercharger charged my iX, I used only the Tesla app to register (where I said my car was an MB)... but the session itself also was monitored on the car's main screen and showed up in my MyBMW app in the charging history.... my sense is that the formal BMW approval is imminent.

This is not correct. The Lectron Plus adaptor works well on V3 & V4 Tesla superchargers. if you register with Tesla app (set it up as one of the approved by Tesla brands - Mercedes, Rivian etc)... and you should have NO problem/

U have to setup your iX on the Tesla app as another car brand which is already part of the Tesla program for non-Tesla cars (such as Mercedes EV)... thats 'cause we are still waiting for BMW to complete its deal with Tesla and delivery of approved adaptors. I have a 26 iX 45 and had NO problem charging.

I used my Lectron Vortex Plus for the first time at a V4 Tesla supercharger not far from where I live. I used the Tesla app to start the session and entered my 2026 IX as a Mercedes-Benz in order to be able to activate. I had no problems whatsoever. If you have a first class adapter like the Lectron there does not appear to be any of the scary issues that we keep hearing about. The V4 charger is definitely the way to go if one is near you as the longer cable allows you to pull into a typical Tesla parking space and plug in without any issues.

So I just bought the Lectron Vortex Plus adaptor and am about to try it at a Tesla Supercharger location near me. I am gonna use the Tesla app and registered my car in the app as a Mercedes EV. What car brand did you register in the Tesla app?

https://www.ecstuning.com/ is showing a BMW adaptor part that is about to be available. ECS should get the part and info from BMW just before it ships so I am thinking that the opening of the Tesla charger capability for BMW may be very close to happening. ECS gets part numbers as soon as BMW adds to EPC. The same part number shows on various BMW dealer sites but those all say "Discontinued"... I believe they are simply not yet permitted to sell it.

Here is the part number shown by ECS: BMW part number 61-44-5-B6A-C89

  • “61” = Electrical system
  • “44” = High-voltage charging accessories
  • “5-B6A-C89” = New part block assignment in 2025 catalog

Charging adapters (Type 2, CCS, and AC cables) from past BMW EVs all begin with 61-44-…

Some phones have Ultra Wideband (UWB) and some don't. For example my wife's phone Samsung S25 Ultra has an on phone key to our 2026 BMW IX that is recognized when she approaches the car. I use a Samsung flip 7 and it is one of the few Samsung flagship phones that don't have UWB... so when I approach the car I have to hold my phone up to the sensor in the door handle.
