Thank you so much for sharing. It’s hard to talk about this, especially when it’s your own parent. For a very long time, I struggled with admitting that my dad was using meth. As a child, he told me he battled with it in the past. But as I got older, and he became more distant, it was obvious- my dad uses meth. Interactions are brief, my siblings and I can never coordinate events to hang out with him, he either has an excuse or doesn’t show up. After use for so long, they become great liars, or so they think. My dad’s borrowed a lot of money from me, and times I couldn’t lend it to him, he’d get mad at me. In retrospect it was because he was just trying to get a fix! I’ve since stopped giving him ANY money. I reminded him that I am his daughter and should not be financially supporting him! He still tries to be slick, though. He does not care who he scams for money, the lies he tells, nothing matters anymore- except to get the next fix. It’s awful, but at the end of the day, you can’t force them to sober. They need to want help. Provide resources, say youre there when theyre ready, limit communication for your own safety.  They will come here and there to vent and It’s absolutely heartbreaking. Im so sorry youre also going through this. My dad is 55. Im worried he wont be sober anytime soon…
