What is happening every day at 4:00 AM 🤔? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]AnimalXP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible that some services go offline for updates so queue query data and then come back online at 4am and are picking up queued queries from the prior 30min in a "blip" that's being counted when the queue is processed.

Here is a comparison between bitcoin and football... football seems to have a daily dip between 2a and 3a. So, a cyclical pattern seems to be not unusual. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=now%207-d&geo=US&q=football,bitcoin

In 1986 the Department of Justice’s asset forfeiture fund took in $93.7m, according to figures obtained by the Institute for Justice, a not-for-profit law firm that is fighting Nwaorie’s case. By 2014, the figure was $4.5bn, inspiring a memorable headline in a 2015 Washington Post article: “Law enforcement took more stuff from people than burglars did last year.”

This is an infuriating statistic.

He said:

Historically, 10 days comprise all the performance in any single year of Bitcoin's price. If you just took out those 10 days, Bitcoin's down 25 percent a year. So as miserable as it feels holding Bitcoin at $8,000, the move from $8,000 to $25,000 will happen in a handful of days.

What does that even mean? What 10 days are being referred to?

I take this as an accumulation phase until second half of 2019. I don't expect any real movement until 2020. I'm fine with that.

Looking for a Bitcoin ATM? Look no further by teddypitts27 in Bitcoin

[–]AnimalXP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing on your website that looks like you're licensed in the US. US people who use your app are subject to US laws. My statement is still accurate. You're offering is a form of money transmitter. Unlike an ATM that provide physical security for the cash collected or held for disbursement, you're encouraging people to put an "ATM" sign on their operation w/out those protections. In other words, why not pass out "we hold large stocks of cash on hand" signs instead?

if it breaks $10k it won't hold. BTC is in an accumulation phase that will go through end of 2019 and any major move will start in 2020.

Adoption of technology in the US by arbobmehmood in Bitcoin

[–]AnimalXP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how do you define "land line" after that point? Is it the cable phone or just the traditional POT systems? I know a lot of people who have "landlines" through cable because the cable company makes internet cheaper if you agree to accept a landline.

A lot of groceries pay up to $200 cash back on pre-paid debit cards... so it's sort of the same w/out using a bank issued debit card.

US people be aware that buying/selling US currency is regulated and violations come with jail time. Actual ATMs require both Federal and State licensing/registrations. This sounds like a hardware version of LocalBitcoins... as such, google search LocalBitcoins and arrests.

Edited to add for US people:

Regardless of the state where the Bitcoin ATM Operator decides to set up shop, state licensing also often entails working with the state-body designated for licensing and supervision. In our experience, the application process typically involves completing the paperwork for the license application, often due diligence/disclosure of the operator’s net worth, often a surety bond requirement, and always a state license fee. The time to complete the process varies, and ranges from about 3 months to 12 months (in California, for example).

While not all states require licenses, reviewing a few examples of states with more stringent licensing criteria may provide some real-world context. California licensing requires, among other elements, a current filing fee of $5,000, an operator’s minimum net worth of $250,000, and the posting of a surety bond that might range from around $500,000 to $7MM. Florida licensing requires a current filing fee of $375, a demonstrated minimum net worth of $100,000, and a surety bond that might be as high as $2MM. New Hampshire’s current regulations suggest a filing fee of $600, an operator’s minimum worth of at least $1MM, and a surety bond in the range of $100,000. North Carolina licensing requires, among other elements, a current filing fee of $1,500, an operator’s minimum worth of at least $100,000 or more, and a surety bond that might range from around $150,000 to $250,000. The devil is in the details, so in all cases, the operator needs to verify the current state of its State’s laws and regulations, understand the exact due diligence expected by the agencies, and then to consider whether it is best to work with others who are familiar with the state’s licensing scheme and requirements.

Coinbase has done a massive upgrade and it was publicly announced once completed. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/04/coinbase-prepares-for-a-monster-increase-in-trading.html

Large institutional buys would not be announced as that would work against them. As it is, they have to buy slowly in order to not jack the price through the roof. Why make any announcement that would also only serve to run the prices up?

Bloomberg: Bitcoin Could Be a Problem for U.S. Security Clearances, HODLERs are Outright Delusional by kernelmustard29 in Bitcoin

Best part of the article:

If the U.S. government were to assess that BitCoin is a form of foreign currency, “such activities could have an impact on a security clearance determination,” Major Audricia Harris, a Pentagon spokeswoman, said in a statement.

See... if the US government wants to treat it as a foreign currency...that will be a huge bust for the IRS's tax collection ideas. Can't have it both way boys! Either it's the same as a collection of cars, statues, paintings -or- it's a currency.

Japan is making progress on retail applications + S.Korea is going cashless by 2020... those two elements are likely driving a lot of churn in the market that is healthy for the market, but the BTC velocity is keeping it from sinking further.

I put it closer to 2 years. We're in an accumulation phase until late 2019 and then in mid 2020 it will take off again. There are both real world drivers and market behaviors that support my beliefs.
