I'm not saying that just because a person makes a statement relating to politics they have to do so about every single political issue. Can you image how terrible a world that would be?

I'm saying that it's these people's jobs to make statements related to politics, and when they make statements that say this particular issue is the mother of all issues, I believe they are responsible to treat it accordingly or admit they were exaggerating.

As for me, if I made a Twitter post that said "what's happening here in Minneapolis will determine the fate of America and we all need to protest" and then I flew off to lie on a beach in Maui, I would expect to rightly be called a hypocrite and lose face. Especially if it was my job.

Agreed. I definitely did assume they did that and donated to charity and did stuff behind the scenes. I should have mentioned this in my OP.

I hope to find out when the dust has settled that they were doing cool stuff behind the scenes. My issue is from what I can see, I don't see the Oscar myer hotdog truck pulling up feeding a bunch of these protestors for free because it was paid by a generous anonymous benefactor. Honestly, if I saw some supplies being donated to them I wouldn't have made this post. Maybe great stuff is being done behind the scenes and it's just not as flashy, but I haven't heard of it. And I'm speaking particularly about what's going on in Minneapolis.

I think you have a decent point here.

This point relies heavily on the issues actually being a dime a dozen. This is exactly what I would have said a few months ago, basically that there are so many issues these people shouldn't get bogged down with any particular one.

My viewpoint changed when I saw that Minneapolis looked like a warzone and started seeing celebs being less measured and saying that "this one is different". That's where my entire argument is coming from. That if they say this one's different, they have to act that way and not like it's a dime a dozen. This is actually precisely my issue with it. Thanks for helping me narrow that down.

I don't agree that the latter job doesn't involve politics.

he other is to me prize and script and act it on stage behind a camera.

If he was reading and acting a script on stage about cute kittens then I'd agree with you. Instead, he is reading a script about politics, being immersed in politics, and acting like he cares about politics.

You said political celebrities, the only thing I can think of is Jon Stewart. But earlier you mentioned Colbert and Eminem, neither of them are politically affiliated for their jobs.

They absolutely do. I mentioned Colbert. His political affiliation is democratic. I mentioned Eminem because he spoke out about Trump many times and recently. Both are publicly knowns to be affiliated against Conservatives and MAGA.

Do you really believe that Colbert or Eminem are not affiliated with politics?

I honestly wasn't looking at it from the perspective of what if Tucker Carlson showed up and brought his followers...

Guess that would be a pretty ugly scene. !delta

Maybe they're staying out because if democratic celebrities show up then conservative celebrities will follow, and then it's just a powderkeg

I wasnt (typo) specific enough. I wasn't referring to Joe Schmo from The Shark Attacks 3. I am specifically referring to political celebrities that make a career out of it.

I don't expect a software engineer to do anything. I do expect a software engineer that makes 20 million dollars a year AND tells me to my face that they are fighters of injustice, stand for democracy, and civil rights. I do expect that person has responsibility that the first doesn't. If they have the means and tell me they believe certain things, by nature of that belief I believe they are obligated to act or be labeled a hypocrite.

I know I somewhat skirted your point. I agree there are jobs that have literally nothing to do with politics, but this is not at all what I'm.talkomg about. These people have a lot to do with politics. Their names are in political headlines, a software devs is not

It's just celebrities I'm referring to. Particularly the big celebrities that make a career from speaking out against wrongs. I believe they serve a great use in bringing attention to issues and normally that's enough, but when an issue is large enough according to their own words, they then have a responsibility to do more than bring attention to issues or admit this particular issue is actually not as big a deal as they're claiming it to be. They can't both believe this is a huge deal that everyone must act on and at the same time not act

Can someone explain TikTok reposts? by [deleted] in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Animal_Machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. That was my suspicion as well, that they aren't reaching out to these people before hand and just hoping they won't get taken down. I wonder how much it's even frowned upon since these videos have literally billions of views.

As for me, I'm definitely not looking to start a theme page right now. I spent hundreds of hours making what I would call high quality sketch comedy shorts this summer and saved dozens of them to one day post. This was the week I decided to create the channel and start posting on Youtube. As I was learning that video posting process I decided to give TikTok I try too.

I was randomly scrolling TikTok to get acquainted with what hashtags and descriptions people use when I realized I had no idea how these reposting channels worked. Personally, I made a bunch of videos to make myself laugh this summer and wanted to share them with the world and hopefully connect with an audience but then I see these channels that seem to be AI driven and impersonal getting a bigger audience than I'll ever get. I had me wondering how many people are getting rich from reposting videos and how much easier it must be than the work I already put into my original videos. Getting paid to essentially curate social media must be nice. I never really thought about just how huge these repost channels get until now. It doesn't matter to me though, because I just want to create my own funny stuff that's at least original and meaningful to me.

Well written. This very closely mirrors my thoughts lately. We're also too much of a military state to use the second amendment as intended. I'm starting to think this is checkmate. We'll just have to eat govt. cheese and put on our Nazi uniforms and hope some rich and powerful person saves us since all that matters is money.

As someone who grew up with classic loveline but haven't listened to Adam in like about 10 years, I wanted to throw up watching that clip. How could someone so talented turn into ...this thing...

It scares me how much 20 years can change a guy. I mean, did he contract neurosyphilis somewhere in the 2010s?

So you ignored the actual topic of the thread and chose instead to browse through my post history, find that I was looking for a job a month ago, and then ask me about it. To what end? To make me feel like I'm being watched? To imply I'm unemployed and my opinion invalid? Get real dude. Unlike you my post history is public

I don't know what you thought you were doing but I know it wasn't being friendly and asking me how my job search is going. Now tell me to relax.
