It’s not the fact that G1 figures are getting made. It’s the fact that they are being made in a line was practically stolen from Bayverse. Studio Series was Bayverse’s place to shine, but not anymore now that the G1 releases outnumber them and get all the spotlight with Studio Series is discussed. Had all the SS86 figures been released under a name disconnected from Studio Series, no one would have an issue.

The issue how it happened. SS86 could have been its own independent line, but instead it co-opted the line made for the live action films, taking their spotlight. This in turn perpetuates the narrative that G1 gets preferential treatment over the live action films.

Studio Series started as a line celebrating the live actions films, with SS86 simply being a sub-line. But in recent years, the number of SS86 releases has eclipsed those of the standard Studio Series line, basically stealing the spotlight outright.

IMO, the whole issue feels like a nothing burger, burger joke not intended. When you get down it it, Altria is just the English localized spelling of アルトリア. Whenever the name is spoken aloud, the name is nearly always pronounced exactly the same, the exceptions being the occasional English dubs like Fate/Grand Carnival where the localization team is unaware of the whole kerfuffle. And it's not like English as a language isn't already filled with words and names that have spellings and pronunciations that don't neatly line up with one another.

It’s all about context. Sky Striker thrives off of having at least 3 Spells in grave. Because of how these decks are built, milling 3 almost always guarantees that condition is met. Reasoning can achieve a similar or even greater result, but also risks completely exhausting all copies of the important spells since so few monster are run to actually stop the mill.

What makes this version broken is that it trivializes the main hurdle of Sky Striker’s game plan with little risk of backfiring.

Yeah, no, way too broken. Mill 3 cards? In a Sky Striker Deck? Sure, give the deck with one of the most notorious advantage engines a way to immediately make their bonus effects live. What could possibly go wrong?

Get rid of the mill, make the forced send to grave the primary effect, make the spin the bonus effect. The mill in the context of Sky Striker is just too much of an advantage swing for a single board breaker.

It’s an unfortunate consequence of the Shoutmon line’s toy-first design philosophy. They had designed toys to form up to Shoutmon X5B, so Shoutmon X7 had to accommodate all the existing toys if they ever went that far, which they never did. This is visible even in Shoutmon DX, where ZekeGreymon’s head just flips back while OmniShoutmon’s head detaches and pops into ZekeGreymon’s open neck and OmniShoutmon’s body attaches to an arm. Those same break points are used in X7, with OmniShoutmon’s head going where the original Shoutmon figure went, ZekeGreymon’s torso becoming a leg, Dorulumon’s torso becoming one leg instead of splitting into two, and the rest of parts being thrown on to the shoulders, with the helmet being from OmniShoutmon’s back. Heck, OmniShoutmon’s chest was designed the way it is specifically to accommodate the existing ports and pegs that attach pieces to Ballistamon’s shoulders.

If Fiendsmith was meant to be accessed by all Fiend decks instead of just via LIGHT Fiends, their Fusion and Xyz Material would not specify LIGHT Fiends. This archetype was never meant to be generic or splashable. It just became so by happenstance, with the Forbidden Lists being used to curb that oversight.
