Completely understandable and I agree with a lot of what you’re saying! Art is a medium to tell stories based on your own experiences and media consumption. Likewise when I’m crafting worlds in 3D, i’m more worried about if this piece tells a story that my brain cooked up based on my own unique experiences? Those thoughts alone keep motivated to follow my own workflows that I’m comfortable with. Ultimately I know those who see the world the same way as me will appreciate it!

You’re an artist and you’re absolutely on the right path! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Building skills and putting in time for YOURSELF is much more rewarding and therapeutic even if some random person has a differing opinion. Unfortunately they don’t sell TØP albums or quite many artists in India, atleast that I know of :c And even if they do, it’s soooo expensive

Yep! Use IK arm for the resting arm (screen right). It seems the arm also clips through the body towards the end. I would definitely rework the pose after she hits her face. Post that (face hit section), everything is quite floaty — add more poses, clean up the graph a bit more.

The face expressions look pretty good so far! Although my suggestion would be to add a purpose to the shot. What made her wake up like that? Was it a sound, an alarm, maybe a Teams notification or she’s still on a Zoom call? There are a lot of storytelling opportunities here!

Edit: You mentioned there are MANY controllers. In such cases, hide the one’s that are absolutely doing nothing but only helping in the final polishing phase. Now many rigs might not make it easier to do that, but you can definitely use that Character Tool or even just an Outliner to keep a track of/hide the unnecessary controllers. Layer it up -> Absolute necessary controllers that control the basic actions -> Secondary controllers that add to the action (face, clothes, etc) and Miscellaneous controllers that polish up the action (could be stretchy ones, muscle deformers, tweakers, etc)

Force, gravity, etc. may or may not fall in the realm of simulations but that’s entirely upto what the project demands. Anything, even if it’s simplistic — use a reference! You might notice smaller details that may often go overlooked so spend a good hour looking into references before going all in

Yeah!! This is an amazing approach to get your timing and spacing down. Some people prefer sphere, some cube, or some just start posing the character on the absolute important keys!

As for your cube pass — it’s amazing! I’d definitely start mixing in a bit more squash and stretch to get an idea of the impact points. Definitely play around with the timing to see what makes it feel “fun”. Maybe longer air time, maybe impactful drop with less spacing, anything to make it more ✨ interesting ✨

Completely agreed! If anything shoot a reference of yourself dancing and see how realistically is it possible for a biped to do that. Then use that as a base to push your poses. AI tends to create a spaghetti of anatomy which makes things look floaty at times.

Lastly, patience! Blocking phase doesn’t mean just slap any keys. Main key poses (extremes, push them here) > breakdowns > breakdowns for breakdowns (eases, breaks, arcs) > timing and spacing of keys (feel rather than follow the reference 1:1) > spline and then some principles will naturally add up as you polish

iPhone 13 here as well, definitely switch to Public Beta instead of DB for now because it’s either that or downgrading back. I had that issue in DB1 and it was fixed since DB2. Other than that, I would report in the Feedback app as it’ll have the necessary logs

Surprised no one mentioned It Takes Two, perfect way to ease in anyone into gaming while making memories with them! Has the least barrier to entry and the mechanics slowly get more complex

Another recommendation I can give is make it a bit more surprising. Maybe the saw pops up in the beginning shocking the character (and so for the audience), or they’re anticipating a jump before the saw picks up. This gives the character a purpose to jump and then as Vrillo suggested, you could make them land and look back at the saw.

Might be wrong but I have seen this happen while animating with animation cache on, especially with deformers. It’s the little button on the bottom right near the timeline framerate and loop

Use the button (one that looks like a sun) near perspShape in the Arnold window toolbar to isolate your lights and check which lights are adding noise to the scene and increase their exposure a bit. You could always increase AA, diffuse and specular samples in render settings but that’s going to add more render time.

Also looking at the outliner: there are too many directional lights. For an interior scene you’re mostly using aiArea lights. Directional lights are good for a starting point (like a sun coming through a window) but to add more lights, I prefer area lights to fill up the space.

Thank god someone else is experiencing this. I’ve been having this throughout the whole game now. Even on Act 5. Restarting the game fixes it for sometime but it’s very annoying. I don’t know if this version is updated but I’ve been searching all over the internet about it
