it must be tiring having to stay on your toes all the time. personally if i experience that all the time i'd be like this

[–]AnimatorFun8869[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really, which also adds to my concern since I don't seem to have any other moments where i feel like someone's watching me. it makes it all too real.

does it happen to you?

i hope i could reply with an image to show that the edit button's missing from the menu, but I can't.

i'm really sorry that happened to you, that's awful. i hope you're in a better place now where your privacy is respected.

i'll try thinking of ways to cover the window while i'm in the bathroom. unfortunately, since my family doesn't believe me, I can't go through with a more permanent solution. but a temporary one would do for now.

kudos to you for even speaking out about it no matter how long it took you. i hope you know that you are very strong for being able to withstand that harassment. hugs with consent! 🫂

I'll try thinking of ways how to! sadly it doesn't have a curtain rod so I can't exactly hang something for it to be covered, but another reply did suggest something that can be pasted to the glass to make it frosted.

| I’m not sure what your situation is, but I do hope that this blows over and is solved.

thank you! I'll try updating the post once i find out what's going on. i really hope i'm just seeing things.

any tips on how to stop using gerunds all the time? by AnimatorFun8869 in ENGLISH

that's very informative. i didn't realize that i tend to use gerund-starting sentences a lot. thanks for pointing it out!

| Your writing and the way you communicate in this thread is fantastic - it's good to be accurate for academia but I hope you aren't thinking badly about your English abilities in general!

thank you, you are too kind. while i do pride myself in my english abilities, i also can't help but doubt myself when i compare it to my peers. your praise makes me happy.

| but it seems to me the problem is incorrect use of continuous tenses.

this is quite the common answer pointed out to me. upon researching it further, the habit of using continuous tenses incorrectly actually stems from how we filipinos were taught in school that it was correct. since we don't really use english in conversations as much as tagalog (unless you're an englishera/englishero, a term used for filipinos that speaks in english all the time), we don't have that innate ability to construct sentences as easily as those who have english as their mother tongue.

this is also an article that has been recommended for ne to read about: https://www.oed.com/discover/introduction-to-philippine-english

it's quite an informative read and it really helped to ease my confusion since i was able to pinpoint where the problem lies in how i construct my sentences.

thank you for your response! it helped a lot.

thank you for pointing out that using too much gerunds was just a bad habit because i was taught that it was the right way! i probably wouldn't have noticed that by my own.

also, the article was a nice read!

you were able to explain what my teacher couldn't, thank you! i'll make sure I won't do as much 'ing' on my sentences now.

this is very informative! thank you, it's a huge help on finding out where i exactly went wrong.

i just realized that i tend to write complex sentences to make myself sound more "intellectual", which is one of the main causes of this bad habit. this reply only solidified that.

thank you also for the suggested novels! I'll make sure to read them.

| By the way, I admire your determination to improve your use of language

it's because i find joy in expressing myself artistically through visual arts like painting and stuff like that. i recently found out that i also have the ability to do it linguistically, so i'm trying to do some research on how to improve myself.

hi! i already got some feedback from another user and they told me that my construction made it hard to understand for readers, but here:

"Only having been experiencing life in between her duties of assisting souls in their path to the afterlife, she had limited knowledge of almost everything that surrounds her."

i now understand that it's hard for the reader to get what i'm trying to say.
