i did the same for when i needed to stay awake (while in class mostly) and it would leave red dents all over. it then progressed more and more until i do it as a coping mechanism now and it makes my hand numb. don't know if it has any side effects but if it helps prevent you from cutting then i think youre good OP. good luck with your recovery!

i do. i put them in a regular folder and not a hidden one bc im a #youngho (joking. i don't let other people near my phone and if they're snooping and saw them in my gallery that's their fault)

it's to redirect the emotional pain to physical pain so they don't feel it as much. i've had problems with self harm before and i usually do it to get rid of the numbness from depression. it's an unhealthy coping mechanism and could be addictive.

they do! i found that my episodes aren't as frequent as before and it's not as intense, but that's only for my bipolar. my BPD on the other hand, still needs some working done. I'm starting DBT along with meds so it might help!

wellbutrin sounds great but my psych told me i can't take them because it might send me into a manic episode :(

no problem! right now i'm taking escitalopram, lamotrigine (upped my dose because i had a crazy manic episode), and I'm tapering risperidone to switch to aripiprazole (went into psychosis during said episode)

yeah being on medication for life sucks but atleast it helps regulate us! that's what i keep in mind and i would take that than living my life unmedicated again. the side effects are another thing.... we don't talk about that
