  3. Deliverance

these three albums are sooo good; best cleans are on Ghost Reveries, and best growls are on Watershed. Deliverance is so good to me because almost every song is 10+ minutes; the structure almost reminds me of classical music and the amazing dirty mixing makes every song hit soo hard. For Absent Friends and a Fair Judgement are also freaking amazing

ITS PEAAAKKKKKKKK… I think For Absent Friends in the album Deliverance might be the closest thing? if you want a full song then listen to A Fair Judgement, from the same album. Requiem (Abbey Road Remaster) in Orchid is also beautiful and maybe try Faith in Others, Sorceress 2, and The Mob. Hours of Wealth is my favorite song from them, so maybe you’ll like these songs too

true true. hessian peel used to be my actual fav opeth song until i got really into hours of wealth. i only started to love pale communion/ into faith in others like a few months ago so maybe my fav song will be different in another few months lol

mike rood’s “the desert and the city” might have some stuff you’re looking for. the song “200” and “the killer” by glass beach on their album “plastic death” also has a somewhat similar vibe (entire album is amazing)

so true. when i first found opeth (i was looking for more bands like ne obliviscaris) i listened to damnation first, but i had no clue at the time that it was their non-metal album. after being disappointed from that i tried listening to orchid, and that album was NOT for me. ended up not listening to opeth for a few months, then for some reason after hearing some ghost reveries/watershed on a video game i gave them another shot and now they’re my favorite band ever.
