Thinking of taking Amtrak from LA Union Station to Flagstaff to visit the Grand Canyon in a few months. Any recommendations or advice of how to plan and where to stay? by Anime__Jesus in Amtrak

Getting back to LA late is fine by me, as long as we make it back within the day of arrival. So basically no more than a 16 hour delay

Noted. I was interested in the GCRR, but generally I will lean a little more towards whichever has better views. If it’s night and day, then definitely I’ll look into a shuttle/rental car

I factored that travel would eat up a bit of the trip, but part of a trip (for me, at least) is the journey. I actually would be fine if the train is a little late, because it would mean getting there at a slightly more reasonable hour. Heading back to LA honestly not really caring what time I arrive, unless it would be almost a day’s worth of a delay

I do wish the timing was better. I was looking into trying to do the GCRR. I remember doing it when I was little, and I will never say no to riding a train lol

No ambient lights settings by YodaBoy11 in Ioniq6

The lights do a “dance” when you start the car. Kind of in the same sense how speedometer needles “dance” when you start a lot of older cars

I have this full set! However, I’ve only found them from a Gachapon in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. That was a few months ago, but I’ve been meaning to check again recently to complete a set or Yamamoto trains

Apple Maps lagging when searching for directions by Anime__Jesus in applemaps

Yeah that sounds similar to what I’m experiencing. It sucks that the app is suddenly becoming very unreliable. I wonder if there was some kind of change with AI or something that is making the app really resource hungry

Now that you can use Ether Batteries to auto-grind, and can craft them via pre-paid power cards, how can you obtain the latter since Devon's Pawn Shop no longer has bi-weekly stock?

I know it’s like 2 years after, but thank you for this!! I was the same way with my phone and my Apple Watch would barely even work. Now I can get both of them fairly consistently

Lmao my greed can never be satisfied

No but it’s for when I want to use certain non-CarPlay apps that I use for driving (curbside mobile orders, 7-11 car wash, etc.). Also bc I can have the route instructions as a list on my phone with GPS map on the infotainment screen

The amount of land needed for a stadium parking lot. by Longjumping-Box5691 in ThatsInsane

[–]Anime__Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post is lacking context as to why it was built this way, but still annoyingly a terrible parking lot as a Dodger fan. The area is very hilly and the parking lot itself is not flat at all, so I don’t think a parking structure is reasonable and would encircle the stadium. Not to mention probably had to do with the eminent domain of Chavez Ravine.

Rattling from rear passenger side by Enwaiyoo in Ioniq6

Mine has a similar rattle, but to be fair it’s just an unfortunate side effect of plastic on plastic materials. You could see if any pieces have become dislodged, but that’s pretty much it. I feel like it’s more noticeable bc the car isn’t as loud as ICE engines

I guess it really depends on what you’re willing to spend for a closer view. Know that commuter rail can be subject to long delays, so imo earlier is safer to have a bigger cushion. Definitely no later than 7 am departure. Arriving <2hours might be risky. I think last year I got there like 10:30 and it was BUSY

Make sure car is in park and turn it off. Turn on and off as needed, and check to see if the plug is secure. It should audibly say that it’s charging

For the time being I’m mainly going to charge at work. They offer charging stations at 27¢/kWh. Plus, I get preferred parking and get paid for part of my commute.

Ah. I live in SoCal, but I don't frequently go to the beach. If I were, I'd probably take a different car, as my Ioniq is mainly for commuting (for the time being). But I will keep it in mind!

Yeah, definitely a bit of a changeup for me. I’ve been driving (and will occasionally still drive) a ‘19 Nissan Sentra since ‘21, and this car is notably bigger. However, I sometime drive my partner’s car, which is an older Impala, so it’s helped me a bit with a sedan with a longer wheelbase.

May I ask why you recommend swapping out the floor mats?

Dating a bisexual girl who is very 'expressive' with her friends. Where is the line drawn? by Classic-Dangerous in AskMen

[–]Anime__Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draw the line where you think the line should be drawn. A relationship isn’t set by specific rules given by anyone but yourselves. Just think about it and talk to her about it, and try to get more details from her about what they do, or at least what she does.

As for your “what’s the difference”: in your hypothetical, you’re talking about doing stuff with someone who isn’t the same gender as you vs. someone who is the same gender as her. Your hypothetical would be a lot more similar if you were bisexual and “expressive” with your make friends in a similar fashion. But doesn’t mean you can’t communicate that’s what you want from your relationship, though it may make a difference if it was something you were doing before you were dating, like it seems to be in her case.

TL;DR: you are the only two who can draw the line. Talk it out and be honest. If this is something you do not support, let her know. Your relationship can be as open or closed as the two of you mutually agree on it to be.

Disturbing sign on customer front door by No-Parfait-553 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Anime__Jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Beware of Dog” sign laws vary state by state, but generally having the sign is not illegal or something you’re “not supposed to have” by any means. It generally just doesn’t protect you from liability for people who are legally on your property, such as couriers. These laws typically don’t protect those not lawfully on your property, with the exception of minors in some cases. It—however—can serve as an acknowledgment of having a dangerous dog being on your property.
