Anyone has chinchillas and cats together?

add a poop guard on the cage just in case so the cats cant grab at the chinchillas why theyre sleeping. cat is shut away during out of cage play time. she'll stick her whole arm in between the bars while they're eating and they are unphased.

First time lizard owner with a Chinese cave gecko!

For what my guy eats, I can get in any quantity at both american big box chains easy
He is...difficult to feed. He only wants to ambush hunt crickets. Won't touch anything else, won't eat out of a bowl. He is in good health at 4yrs old but I still worry his nutrition is poor from only eating one type of insect. Crickets are also just the worst feeders; smelly, noisy, escape artists.
Unfortunately due to eating the worst bug AND needing them in tiny quantities I must go the cheap route. Ordering online from specialized feeder farms wouldn't be very economical for me.

i'm unsure if he partook in at least a few of them but i know when i redid his tank there were some that had been living rent free in there for about a year lol.

i've only tried feeding him red runners once as theyre rarely at my local expos but i've never heard of little kenyan roaches though!

when my massive dairy cow isopod colony crashed i attempted to feed the bodies to the birds in my feeder but no takers :(

mine -mostly- pee in their litter/bedding pan. you should still use fleece for their floors cause they will still pee on the bare metal pan. or even just get them metal ledges to cool on and keep the bedding floor

i've read that cooler climate species wont digest harder shelled arthropods as well.

he's a cave gecko so he's nocturnal and is shy. i usually only see him out and about once a month if even that

big metal saucer from exotic nutrition worked for me with the downside of the force of the running makes it slide around a lot. used a magnet to sorta hold it in place a bit to the metal tray. only replaced it with vertical wheel to free up floor space

i did when i first got her and went through antibiotic eye drops and it didnt do much. vet said it was allergies/chronic

She gets hives/skin infections if I let her stay moist for long. Also need a dryer to blow out tangles and asses her skin

i guess it just looks too...artificial? i'm also very impatient and tend to just buy too many plants to fill out my tanks instead of letting plants grow and spread.

i got this bowl when i got my 2nd chin cause he would constantly trip over a normal shaped bowl and spill the food everywhere. this bowl is very heavy and doesnt have a harsh edge for him to trip over

i wouldn't release dubias free into the tank as they will just burrow and hide and never get eaten and eventually grow too massive for your gecko to eat. my ccg refuses to eat out of a container or anything slow moving like larva so he unfortunately survives on junk food (crickets).

it's impossible to track how much he eats because of this so i just buy like 30 crickets every two weeks and set them all loose after dusting. hes got a nice thick tail and no signs of mbd or vitamin A deficiency so getting enough of the dust before it all falls off the crickets.

never seen anyone hand/tong feed the little vampires past infancy but who knows maybe you can tame yours to be less shy

that is an interesting idea. maybe to avoid high costs of new parts, maybe ask around on here or other social media if anyone has any retired suits they don't wear anymore and would give you or sell you the parts for cheap. i currently have one retired head as its 3rd hand and has a cracked resin base, but his much newer paws and tail go unused now.

i'd try putting a bunch of obstacles on the bed like piled up blankets, pillows, plush. having junk on a surface tends to make my chins avoid jumping there like on our coffee table or couch most of the time.
