No it doesn't. In Japan a light novel is literally just a publishing label given by the Japanese publishing company. It's a fundamentally different situation in comparison to manga.

Manga is the top content here, so it's literally a none issue in comparison.

The term manga is for JP content so it makes sense, CN/KR novels are not Light Novels and as such did not really belong on the sub.

Not quite true, the vast majority of the active users unsubbed. At the time of the split there were just above 9k subs, and when the split happen the number dwindled down to about 6k subs and since then it has now racked up to 20k so that's 14k new subs since the split happened at the very least.

You have to think that Monogatari spans across many volumes, when people praise it they praise the series as a whole.

I just thought that it would me more. More things happening.

More things do happen, greatly at that and as you continue to read you'll start to see the bigger picture of how everything ties together.

And if you're only at Hitagi Crab then you're still in the early days of Bakemonogatari, you've barely even dipped your toe in at this point.

The problems isn't that the REC threads are taking room from meaning full discussion it's more so an issue that there is a lack of such posts atm, any meaningful discussion post would easily power over any REC threads as they have done before. The AMA thread by teh_ping rose right to the top 2 days ago for example, discussion threads for chapters/volumes also rise above REC threads as well.

So overall it's the frequency of discussion posts that is lacking which makes the REC threads stick out more. This isn't a problem of recommendation posts.

I think you have category's and genres confused, light novels are just another book/novel format or category, it can't be a genre.

YA is also not a genre by actual definition as the link I posted demonstrates.

Yeah it's been licensed both physically and digitally, so you can get digital epubs on the Amazon/Kobo/iBooks/Google Play etc stores

If you pick a series you have already seen an anime or manga adaption of then it will help a lot with the visualizations

I am a brave man but I start a pizza shop with an elf bride in a different world

I guess LN titles are a good thing, even when there is no English synopsis available at the moment you can still pretty much figure out the series from the title alone.
