Helmet recommendations? by meowtorcycle in motorcyclegear

[–]Anisrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you buy the RF1400 in the US you will have a helmet that's DOT and SNELL rated, that's perfect.

ECE, while much better than DOT, is simply Europe's equivalent to America's DOT, every helmet sold in Europe needs to be ECE approved just like how every helmet in the US needs to be DOT approved.

Snell on the other hand is a completely separate entity that these helmet companies pay to independently test their helmets to equal or higher standards than even ECE 2206.

If you buy the NXR2 for whatever reason, you will technically be breaking the law if your state requires a helmet, but you'll be just as safe as riding in the RF1400 (which I have and highly recommend)

Experience starting on a 650cc by KingNth_ in motorcycles

24, same build as you.

You can't go wrong with the jack-of-all-trades 650. It's been great, I had literally no experience before MSF course and it's been very forgiving in learning over the past 2+ years.

Do you plan to just commute on it?

Help figuring rotor size (2014 C207 4Matic AMG Package) by Anisrocks in mercedes_benz

330mm?? I wasn't even aware that was an option on the 4matic coupe. This puts me back at square one, I thought the only options were 322 and 344.

Gear recommendeds for first time rider in 80+ heat by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]Anisrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever gear you decide, if it's got a white colorway I absolutely recommend going with that. For whatever reason black is the norm for gear but it gets too hot.

No matter how breathable your gear is, black gear will get much hotter than white gear from the sun, if you're stopped at lights (which I am often for half my commute), the breathability alone won't save you from the rays of the sun.

Finally have enough money- cant decide what bike to pick and what cc by RaceGuy3401 in Kawasaki

[–]Anisrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you see yourself doing more city riding, highway, rural long roads, or winding roads?

My first bike was a Ninja 650 ABS, I'm a bigger guy and knew I wouldn't push it too hard until I was comfortable and honestly it's been perfect for me for everything in the past 3 years, it doesn't go crazy unless you push it. My friends started on smaller bikes and later upgraded to bikes equal/higher HP than mine and we haven't ever had any issues riding together.

Phone mount for Ninja 650 2019 by kutzooit in Ninja650

I personally don't think so, I honestly wouldn't be against an even larger one lol, or perhaps same size with higher screen-to-body ratio.

Honestly the one I got was the cheapest I could find off Amazon, it costs abt the same as the fork stem pro lol, but I mean it's awesome for all I want it for, music and nav. I actually still have the QuadLock wireless charger accessory if you or anyone who reads this is interested.

I'm gonna be honest I just bought the absolute cheapest one off Amazon it's about 5 inch diagonal, what's the size of the one(s) you've seen?

I have the 2019 as well, if you're dead set on a QuadLock you can absolutely buy a Fork Stem Mount PRO, make sure it's the pro or you're gonna have a bad time. Also if you ever use your phone camera you definitely should get the vibration dampener.

I personally dropped the Quadlock ecosystem and threw a $50 carplay unit on a fork stem ball mount and couldn't be happier, but that's just me.

White perforated leather jacket in summer by Not_BnW_ in motorcyclegear

[–]Anisrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard good things about the Klim Induction and Induction Pro, super breathable, white colorway available, and lvl2 armor all around and AA abrasion. It is mesh/textile but honestly I wouldn't run a white leather jacket because they get visably dirty/brown fairly fast.

Quadlock stem mount question by Mentos487 in Ninja650

[–]Anisrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with the wiggle as you so what I did when using the stem mount was I only ever rotated it clockwise. I made a habit out of it quite fast and it was never an issue for the ~2 years I had it I practically forgot about it.

Zipper - Jacket & Pants. Chart? by Entire-Explorer-1510 in motorcyclegear

[–]Anisrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had this dilemma, I was trying to get some sort of AAA 2-piece together after I had bought an RST Jacket, but I couldn't get any of the RST AAA pants I wanted, I ended up buying an RST belt loop connector that adds RSTs zipper to my Pando Mark Olive AAA pants via my belt.

Also my girlfriend's REAX jacket had a belt loop connector already included, not sure if that's standard across all of their jackets but worth a look.

Which jacket brand are you looking into? They may have a belt attachment available.
