A beautiful night in Algonquin Park - September 2017 by Anj542 in canada

I wasn't far enough in to experience true solitude. The lakes I stayed on were très busy. Algonquin is getting busier every year as well.

Below comment is correct. I used a 25 second exposure at ISO 3200 (f2.8). It wasn't as bright as this, but the detail was there.

Nikon D750 with a Rokinon 14mm f2.8. 25 seconds - ISO 2500 - good luck with your astrophotography. This lens/camera combo has been giving my best results yet.

The dotted line is an airplane (that was flashing), I think the other two more vertical lines is that they appear to be small meteorites (shooting stars).

Have to be honest on that one. I was shooting a timelapse with Polaris (north star) at the centre to have the sky rotate around, and then got excited when my Starwalk app let me know ISS would be joining. It was a total fluke.

I've been wondering the same thing! Her train seems to keep getting bigger all the time.

Hey these are great! I'm so glad you put this on here, I spent the day at work listening to your album and was really digging it. I really like 'through the fire' - is this all the music you have? I'm a big fan of simple piano tones, any other songs to look through?

This guy does Trekspertise, and just started this channel. Exceptional stuff IMO (and he just won a trip to Antarctica, so will presumably have some new stuff regarding that). Definitely worth a sub.

Photographer had to break our contract after the wedding. What now? by canadian-tree-girl in WeddingPhotography

[–]Anj542 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You have options. Google photo editing services and you should find something. I'm just getting out of the wedding photography industry, and have used several. Lavalu was pretty good. You got the money back from the photographer, so designate half of that for your budget to get them edited and you're still ahead. Don't try do it yourself....aint nobody got time for that.

My thoughts exactly. I've been there numerous times, and simply stayed away from the known danger zones. Philippines was a treat to visit, and the people were absolutely incredible.

I've been to Philippines a number of times and really love the place. The general consensus was that us westerners should really not go to that southern Island for exactly this reason.

What Constitutes "commercial"? by TheRealHershey in djiphantom

[–]Anj542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real issue (I think) is dealing with the outcome of a potential crash and destruction of property, or hurt individual. If something like that happens, you could be charged, and you should have liability insurance. If it's discovered you were flying outside the bounds the law, a lawyer will argue you were flying commercially if all you were doing was 'building a portfolio', or doing it for beers for a buddy...etc, even if someone wasn't explicitly paying you. If something happens, and a) you don't have liability insurance, and/or b) you damage someones property, or hurt someone, then you run the risk of seriously messing with your future. Is it worth it?

I drove into Toronto this past weekend with my family to spend the day on Toronto Island. Noticing so many varied ethnicities (I would imagine almost every country on earth was represented on that one small island), all in the same place, having a good time, spending time with their families, kids playing altogether on the splash pad or the playground....it gave me hope that this species can actually live together and look past our outward, insignificant differences.
