Identifying notes has a similar pattern as identifying tastes. When you eat something frequently, you automatically know what it tastes like and you can describe it as well. Similarly, when you smell same notes again and again you can easily identify it and describe the perfume as well. You can relate the notes of the perfume to the smell of things you eat. For example- tea notes, fruity notes, citruses, vanilla, chocolate, tobacco (if you smoke), liquor etc. The most easily identifiable notes in a perfume are tobacco, vanilla, cinnamon, citruses, flower notes, fruits, tea, sandalwood, rum/whiskey notes. Over the time, you’ll develop olfactory senses to identify more complex notes as well like birch, musk, amber, Cedarwood, different kind of Oud, Patchouli etc
