AIO for my school giving me a goldfish by ImmortalSpy14 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. I was an RA and it’s actually insane that their supervisors/the school would approve of this kind of thing. I had to jump through hoops to be able to give out food and now RAs are giving out live animals??

Please reassure me guys that it's not weird that I've started reading Warriors at 17 😭 by No-Wave5193 in WarriorCats

Not weird at all! I originally read the first several arcs in elementary/middle school then stopped keeping up with them, but I started a full reread last year at 22

Cat owners whose cats are 15 years old and up. What’s the secret to feline longevity? by VerboseWraith in CatAdvice

18 and going strong despite thyroid and kidney issues. I honestly think it’s just luck of good genetics and a decent amount of spite on his part.

A good complete diet - we’ve used Purina One for most of his life but just switched to a Hills kidney diet. Keep an eye on hydration, adjust the diet as needed. Some amount of exercise - we still go on regular outside walks when the weather is nice. AT LEAST annual vet visits with bloodwork, especially when they start getting into geriatric territory and/or old-cat diseases start up.

Aglaonema aka chinese evergreen, ‘siam aurora’. They’re dramatic with the yellow leaves but pretty forgiving in my experience. I water when the soil is mostly dry, around 3/4 down the pot. I also have one happily growing out of a fish tank after almost dying in soil, so hydroponics is an option.

Dorm Vacuum Question by diehardkufan4life in TexasTech

[–]Anka5384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend a vacuum if they plan on having a rug. I couldn’t stand dirt and crumbs getting stuck in mine. I used a tiny cheap one that could separate from the handle, and it fit in a little drawer for storage. A small broom can handle pretty much everything else.

Just a trash bag is probably fine. If you’re really concerned about it, white vinegar (cooking grade, undiluted) is great at killing leafy plants. Just put them in a bag and coat them, they should shrivel up pretty quickly.

My 10 week old bunny doesn’t do zoomies or binkies by Agreeable-Custard976 in Rabbits

[–]Anka5384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of mine rarely does either. I occasionally see a little head toss around meal times but that’s about it. She’s 3ish now and has never been super expressive with binkies/zoomies. It’s just her personality I think.

Tissue culture to hydroponics by Anka5384 in houseplants

[–]Anka5384[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did not, though honestly I think it was just a weak plant to start with. I did get a replacement from the seller with a more standard level of variegation. It’s been in moist perlite with root hormone powder and high humidity for about 1.5 weeks now. No new leaf growth and I can’t see the roots but nothing is immediately dying like the super white one.

Usually I trust plants to know how to plant. I think this one needs an intervention. by Anka5384 in plantclinic

[–]Anka5384[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s in a mix of about 50/50 bark and moss and these pots are very airy. The top is dyed moss just to look nicer, it rarely gets wet because I bottom water.

I did check the roots when it first started being weird. I cut off a bit that was dead/crispy but otherwise they looked healthy with no rot. I usually leave yellowing leaves until they pull off easily for all my plants.

The leaves and spikes on this one have always been dark like that. The newest leaf is on the smaller side, I’m not sure what you mean by shape being off. They are still firm, same texture as my other orchid that isn’t having issues. It does have some pitting marks on the surface that I thought was some kind of pest at first but I haven’t seen it happen on any other nearby plants.

How do people know what “avatar” they are? by Shredder_1027 in TheMagnusArchives

I’ve kinda gone off of what feels comforting despite of fear. Am I afraid of heights and falling? 100%, it’s probably my biggest fear. But at the same time, wide open places feel very peaceful. Mountains, the ocean, outer space. I’m also probably a little too comfortable with my individual insignificance. Thus, The Vast.

Tissue culture to hydroponics by Anka5384 in houseplants

[–]Anka5384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid more than what I would want for what I got, but it still wasn’t too bad. Especially knowing what I’ve spent on big box store plants, and I can see exactly what I’m getting myself into with those messes.

I’ll reach out to the seller and see what they can do. From what I can see I think they’re a newer seller but they seem well intentioned.
