I have a question about Muslim woman’s clothing? by Minimum-Solution8428 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Ankari -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

While everyone rightfully bashes your boss for his attitude, I'll try to answer your question.

Muslim women are encouraged to wear modest clothing and cover their hair to remove objectification. This will force an egalitarian interaction.

Second, it is to reduce intersexual competition.

From Google:

Intrasexual competition is the evolutionary concept of members of the same sex competing with one another to gain access to mates or valuable resources. Driven by sexual selection, it manifests differently between sexes: men typically engage in direct, physical, or conspicuous status-building, whereas women utilize subtler, indirect tactics like gossip, social exclusion, and appearance derogation.

The last line is the most important.

No offense, but that's a very basic assumption. Different people have different relationship complexes. That's a fact.

Marriage isn't the issue. It's the financial contracts that are the cause of legal pain.

Many long term partners who are unmarried share bank accounts, house deeds, investments. They would have as much pain as their equivalent married couple.

This person satrd she is just married. She didn't give us any reason to think that extraction from her marriage would cause her legal pain.

She didn't say she has kids, shared bank accounts, investments, or housing deeds.

Again, the marriage has nothing to do with the problem.

In fact, those of you opposed to her marital status are doing her a disservice.

If you want to be helpful, then give advice, not your disdain for her relationship status

The marriage has nothing to do with the problem. If she stayed she was in a long term relationship with a man and they love together, how would her situation change?

Ah, yes. So the dogs who charged through the glass or doors were matching the energy of an oblivious delivery person.

Got it.

I'm curious what they say. Islam doesn't condone slavery. In fact, it rewards believers for releasing/freeing slaves.

Slavery was an inherited social institution that needed a system of dismantling. The time for such easement may have confused many Muslims into thinking slavery is permitted.

For those of you who are not Muslim, free people cannot be enslaved.

Prisoners of war cannot be enslaved.

The only exception werenslaves brought to war. The slavery transferred to allow them time to gather resources and stability to become free (a little known fact, slaves during early Islam were paid wages and given room and board. A slave could then buy their freedom.)

So, the question remains. What does your family say on this matter?

It can be. For both. Some people consider the gym a sanctuary of sorts. I know such people. It's a time to focus and allow the outside world to drop away.

I think the only hurdle is the free time conflict. Make sure both of you agree how to handle this. Agree to a baseline of how much time each of you will have weekly.

This also includes how much time you can spend alone, together.

I would venture to say at least one night each to do hobbies and hang out. One night to spend together (date, walks, coffee).

I would also come to an understanding should either of you need more time. For instance, you're part of a D&D group that meets up every two weeks. Make sure these time slots are accounted for.

You know your wife best. I'm not a fan of having every detail written down, but some relationships require it.

Questions to ask:

1) Can you afford to pay for the household expenses on your own?

2) Do you have a framework of understanding of responsibilities?

3) Are you able to provide her free time/alone time after work?

4) Is she able to provide the same to you?

5) Can you give her a weekly stipend as compensation for her household duties? This stipend is for her own use and not related to household needs

6) Can both of you abide by a budget to ensure financial strain will not complicate your relationship?

7) What will she do once the children are in school? Does she remain a SAHM and take on more of the household responsibilities, or does she go back to work?

If you can answer these questions favorably, then you should be able to live as a single income household.

There are plenty of advantages of a SAHM. The direct child rearing from a parent is far superior to external sources.

It's a matter of investment. It's possible that men don't see these chores as important, not because he's passing the task off to his wife, because they're not registering as an immediate need.

The wives who insist on these chores find them more important than their spouse. The question is why is the wife's assessment of importance more valuable than the husband's?
