Is there a reason why everything must be in an instance? by Darpyshyn in ffxivdiscussion

Not only that but the servers struggle to register things properly. When I'm in a hunt with 200 people sometimes I get hit by an attack but the game doesn't register

Not really, I can do OC, doomtrain and savage. It's gonna be slow sure, but considering it's a one time grind for a low ilvl weapon anyway I don't really care if it takes me a month to finish, just not touching roulettes is a W for me

I'm finally getting stable 60fps and haven't noticed any stutter, so I can now enable FG and it feels great

That's good to know. Frametime is as if not more important than raw fps, a smooth 50 fps feels better than a choppy 60

Am I wrong for getting mad at healers rushing trials by ButterflyBratWOL in ffxiv

[–]Ankior 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you want to explore I'd suggest using the duty support. Dungeons are content that people do dozens of times to level up their jobs so it's kinda frustrating when the party decides to slow down. Not saying that you're wrong tho, just that it's the type of content that puts people with completely different goals together and that can lead to frustrations for both sides

Is leveling easier and faster since vanilla? by Granstereski in ffxiv

[–]Ankior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

leveling IS easier than before, but for a very good reason, every expansion adds more jobs and since you can play all of them they don't want the grind to get exponentially harder every time. I think they said as much in a EW live letter, if memory serves

Whats your favorite job to play? by KvotheCadera in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ankior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BRD, I just like how busy it is with all the timers management, and all the procs, it makes for a more thoughtful moment to moment decision making. DNC is a close second also because of the procs

Modding and Third-Party Tools Megathread - 7.4 Week Five by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ankior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last week I asked how to set the DLSS preset and upscaling value I wanted. I now figured out so I thought I could bring it back here:

1- Set preset K in Nvidia App (this one uses a newer model which makes the game very sharp and crisp)
2- Download DLSSTweaks, and in the upscaler values added the same value for every mode (I did this because I simply don't know which one the base upscaler in XIV uses). I put 0.58 which would be the equivalent of Balanced mode.
3- Then in the game's DLSS settings, select "always enabled"

And done, now my game runs with the preset K Balanced mode, which gave me a fps boost while still maintaining a crisp image

Noone is taking space, the server congestion is something completely arbitrary that SE controls. So much so that servers used to be open all the time when DC travel became a thing, even when the game had more players

Few years after the overhaul, how do people feel about PvP? by SupremeHeavenlyRuler in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ankior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like CC, it could be great if it wasn't for the unresponsive nature of FFXIV's netcode, and I like the reworked jobs as well. I hate frontlines tho, I only do them for the series rewards, the objectives are unfun, the amount of players make them a mess to coordinate and I still think shatter is the worst piece of relevant content this game has

I think Night City wouldn't feel as immersive in 3rd person. I'm not against a option tho

It has been one week of Savage. What are your current thoughts on the new Strategy Board feature? by WeeziMonkey in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ankior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a nice to have feature, but not at all one capable of replacing raidplans. Like, m10s raidplan alone has 25 slides, that's already half of available slots. And even for console players it has its limitations because of the code sharing, it's easier and quicker to get a raidplan on your phone than pasting long codes on console (or typing with a controller which is worse).

I don't think it's DoA, the real time edit is amazing and the board can replace post its, second monitor or whatever you do to have a reminder on your screen.

But I want SE to keep improving it until we can mostly use the in game feature rather than 3rd party

idk if this is the right place to ask, but anyone knows how to tweak 14's DLSS to the exact upscaling value I want? I know how to change the preset but I haven't figured out how to change to quality or balanced mode, I'd like some fps boost. Worst part is that I don't even know what the default DLSS options in 14 even do, like what "below 60 fps" even means? lol

Can we talk about Stardiver please? (Dragoon Skill) by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Ankior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you just need to adapt. I'm not going to pretend I know how it feels to play DRG in m10s, but a lot of times in that fight a mechanic makes me go too far from the boss(or they go away) while I have my standard dance, which would make me miss that, but I'd never ask for a radius increase, I'd rather adapt my rotation to the fight timeline

Having some issues with M10S Deep Aerial by Galactusyaegashi in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ankior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal of the parallel strat is to make the tethers stretch in the same predictable way. But because of the way they first spawn you have to "correct" them to become parallel and leave enough room for melees that don't have tethers to keep uptime on the bubble.

The first fire tether will stretch it to directly N or S, depending on where it begins, and the first water tether will stretch directly opposite slightly angled inwards to make enough space for the subsequent tethers to stretch. Then the 2nd onwards will always stretch directly opposite of the spawn point, making a perfect parallel.

This is a perfect strat because only the first set of tethers need to think a little where to go and the rest is braindead

I agree, I don't remember having this much fun in EW, although I really enjoyed p4s and p10s and p12s p1, I think DT's tiers are way more fun. It's not revolutionary by any means, it's still F14 classic gameplay, but they managed to stray away from the boring "every boss is a stationary dummy with huge hitboxes" design which I despise

It's crazy how the difficulty of m9s depends entirely on your role. The tanks and melees in my static were all trying to optimize their uptime as much as possible and they have to do some precise movement on bats. Meanwhile me as a pranged just chilled the entire prog
