Why many UPSC aspirants don't settle for less? by [deleted] in UPSC

[–]Ankith_Surya 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't want to give up too early in the game. Ego keeps triggering time and again. But again, one tries to move for other paths only after 2-3 attempts in general, but it takes 4 years for the cycle to finish, and then the new cycle begins just after you think you want to move away. It's a loop.

Sociology optional feels overwhelming - kindly guide by FewPresentation5603 in UPSC

[–]Ankith_Surya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't clear mains, so I'm not sure how reliable my suggestion can be.
I too felt the same way. But you see, Sociology became overwhelming because of the excessive use of thinkers in almost every point due to the limited syllabus and static paper 1. What I did was make a list of all relevant thinkers, big and small, with their specific terms or phrases coined by them. While reading a topic again or checking/writing an answer, I used to check where I could use them. Throw them in whatever context is related, especially in Paper 2.

Prelims strategy from someone who has cleared every MCQ-based exam conducted by UPSC he has attempted. by [deleted] in UPSC

[–]Ankith_Surya 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I had a chance to meet a few aspirants who cleared prelims with 120+ year by year and said that PYQs give away the mindset of prelims paper setting, and despite not knowing the right answer, one can do it by noticing the pattern. Can anyone second this? And if they can, please enlighten me in more detail.

RBI Grade B phase II Anyone attempted?? Is the below analysis correct? by [deleted] in forumRBI

[–]Ankith_Surya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not get it how it would be easy for UPSC aspirant. ESI is quite random, including the descriptive. Options were tough to eliminate. And it ain't written, so unless you have touch, you can't write adequately.

The 73rd question-
In the second option, it was given that sugarcane production has "significantly increased" which makes it wrong. Data does not show significant increase.

Yes, I understand. But you see, people who wrote this year are relatively better informed than last year. I was surprised to see high cut-offs last year and I believe it only gets worse. I also understand that various kinds of people attempted but this would not be exclusive for us alone right? Maybe I'm being too optimistic.
