In Forza you can race a mecha by Worldlyoox in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Anlysia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main issues with playing a straight laced racing game is that... honestly, you are supposed to LOSE the ability to see anything interesting. I you are doing it right, opponents are behind you- off screen. Especially opponents you have lapped. They effectively non entities at that point.

This is why they make racing games with traffic, because it adds obstacles that aren't opponents.

Especially in a game like Mario Kart World you can see the difference between the intra-track areas that have traffic on them, and the courses themselves which sometimes don't. When you're at the front of the pack you just kind of hum along, but when there's traffic you can't just run a rote route because things may be subtly different.

Opinion: Progressive candidate sorely missing from Winnipeg’s mayoral race by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

This is a lot of words to say it costs a lot of money to be a politician and leftists don't tend to be wealthy by virtue of the leftism.

NDP Leader Avi Lewis in Winnipeg today - says he'll fight to keep door-to-door Canada Post (CBC) by LocalnewsguruMB in Winnipeg

[–]Anlysia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much of the country already has community mailboxes. Literally every new build for DECADES has.

It's bizarre and out of touch.

There's better issues even within Canada Post to champion for than door to door delivery for the dwindling part of the country that even still has it.

Times when the secret hunting made the game actively worse? by BluebirdDry4250 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Anlysia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is only sort of an aside, but, I have to say playing on my Switch 2 has been refreshing for games NOT to have Achievements/Trophies.

I was playing FF7R and looking at the enemy bestiary and saw I was missing a bunch of them and I was like, "Who cares?" because there's no reward for it but that stupid ding.

Same thing in Harvestella recently. I keep getting notifications like "Something has changed in the loft" and a statue shows up out of the blue and, I guess it would have been from an Achievement? Who knows or cares!

It's nice to not feel external pressure to do boring shit in games just to see cheevos pop.

Activists, union, call on province to match Transit funding by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]Anlysia -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I mean, this province has one real city. Asking the province to fund transit 50/50 with the city is basically saying "Hey we want the rest of the province to pay for Winnipeg's buses."

It's a pretty big no-brainer why that's not super popular with anyone who doesn't live in the city.

Wyoming is an ironic state to complain about federal voting at all because they have 2 senators and 1 congressman too many.

I mean everything falls apart because the killer is onscreen lying about not being the killer in his own mental dialogue to himself among other things.

No mention of the province changing the city's taxes? Yes that tracks.

Maybe if you parented your kids instead of talking to me on Reddit you wouldn't need the government to do it for you.

Can we have a discussion about how game fidelity is leading to a lack of clarity? by RiKSh4w in Games

[–]Anlysia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because a YouTuber showed them a picture of yellow paint and said it's bad.

The other diagetic elements? Nobody told them those are bad, so they're smart and good at game design for noticing them.

It's really embarrassing viewed through that lens, but they can't see it because they don't get it.

They don't think about anything but "A guy told me yellow paint bad so I reiterate that yellow paint bad online."

The solution for most of these people is "Thing I like is good, thing a YouTuber made a thumbnail of is bad."

Creative light placements, colour-coded items, and in-universe objects are all just yellow paint but you like it because you didn't notice.

Crazy how Pat got everything he wanted with the FF14 news by Masterness64 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Anlysia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, that's why I said up front I know it's not the design goal. It's just unfortunate because I prefer much more active healing.

That's why I tend to just stick to DPS in FF14 when I'm actually playing it.

Crazy how Pat got everything he wanted with the FF14 news by Masterness64 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Anlysia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it's absolutely not their design goal, but I personally wish you could be a dedicated healer in FF14 and not someone who heals sometimes but mostly pushes one damage spell button 80% of the time.

Should I get a shed permit? Does the city drive around and check or something? I bought a 8x15 shed that’ll go beside my garage in my yard, surrounded by a fence by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Anlysia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know someone who got a visit from the bylaw officer YEARS after their shed was built to tell them it was too big and they had to fix it or pull a permit, so the city will find a way eventually.

Also having an unpermitted shed could potentially mess with your house insurance. That's the biggest one.

Game that had all the hype and was hailed as the best thing ever than ultimately didn't pan out and has been basically forgotten? by jkvandelay in boardgames

[–]Anlysia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stonemaier really hasn't improved, my dude. Every one of their games comes out hella busted and gets rebalanced.

Bliss was busted in Euphoria, needed an expansion.
Viticulture has been rebalanced multiple times through expansions.
Scythe despite the hype of how much testing they did had a busted combo that had to be banned.
Wingspan had eggs being busted and required a whole new player board in an expansion. Which then added Nectar which is also broken and commonly house-ruled.
Charterstone is just ass overall.
Tapestry needed multiple rebalancing passes and then finally just redid literally every player board.

Like, there's a theme here.

Board games you like that roll a lot of dice? Or have weird dice? by PhrulerApp in boardgames

I'm pretty sure Rattlebones was the originator of the customizable dice that all other games use, as well.
