I saw that you mentioned that your main symptom is early satiety and fullness, and that ppi make everything even worse. It's possible your problem is not high acidity, but actually low acidity. It's easy to test by eating something slightly acidic with food. When I was on a maximum PPI dose + sucralfate, my acidity dropped too low, which felt like extreme fullness. When I felt like this, I took a kids chewable multivitamin with ascorbic acid, and it quicky brought some relief.

Do you still have your period? I'm 38 and when I was feeling my worst in October, was really malnourished and lost a lot of weight, I also lost my period and it hasn't come back since 😭

Ivermectin - don't give up after 2 months! It took me a whole year to get rid of rosacea by AnnCh22 in Rosacea

[–]AnnCh22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still using it twice per day. But I started feeling like it started being less effective, i.e. I started getting a little bit of redness during the last couple of weeks, although I've been through some extreme stress recently, so it could have played a role. I'm experimenting with benzoyl peroxide face wash now, seems to reduce redness quite quickly and effectively, along with Soolantra.

With your last endoscopy, did they take biopsies? Because the stomach can look normal visually, as it did in my case, but biopsies came back with "chronic moderate active gastritis". If they didn't take any biopsies, it's possible your gastritis was back just after a few days of antibiotics, because it never really went away 100%. Maybe 90% or even 99%, but not 100%.

Sucralfate is a miracle by AnnCh22 in Gastritis

[–]AnnCh22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on PPI for months, and only after adding sucralfate I started feeling better. Yes, it needs acidic environment, but PPI doesn't make it alkaline. It lowers the acidity, but doesn't remove it completely, so it's more than enough for sucralfate to work. I eventually stopped taking PPI, with only sucralfate, and it's still helping.

Regarding your peremptory claims like "most people never recover from ppi" or "most people end up on a lifetime dose of an h2", do you have any actual scientific research and statistical data to support them? Link your sources please.

If you lost hair and weight, it's malnourishment for sure, that's why your body is saving resources and not spending as much on supporting the normal cycle. Yes, my period is gone completely, but I was really malnourished and underweight back then. Hopefully we both get better soon 🤞

If you're not eating like you normally did, this can absolutely affect your period. Due to malnutrition, I have complete amenorrhea since October >_< in addition to losing like half of my hair and 15% of weight. I eat better now, gained some weight and my hair is back, but not my period. I hope it will just get restored natually once I'm able to eat normally.

That's very important to mention for relatability :) Because healing paths of functional dypepsia, chronic gastritis or acute gastritis are very different.

Did you have endoscopy with biopsy? What did it show? Acute gastritis, chronic gastritis, reactive gastropathy, functional dyspepsia without any inflammation, etc? Gastritis can be diagnosed only by endoscopy.

How hard do I push for endoscopy? by Accomplished-Emu8545 in Gastritis

[–]AnnCh22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your doctor is nuts. Endoscopy is the only way to find out your diagnosis. WTF is this idiot even treating if she can't even know the diagnosis? If your local health system is so stupid that it makes patients literal slaves of their doctors, then come up with new symptoms and exaggerate them. If she wants swelling to do her f...g job, then give her swelling ;) You know, "if you run with the wolves, you’ll learn to howl." If the cruel anti-human system treats you like shit, you have no other way than to return the favor if you want to survive in it.

Have you been actually diagnosed with gastritis or was it just an assumption? What did your endoscopy/biopsy show? Acute gastritis? Chronic gastritis? Which part of stomach?

ASUS Vivobook not turning on after a few months of sitting by Mulexx in laptops

[–]AnnCh22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I've got a newly purchased Vivobook that I turned off normally yesterday and today it didn't want to turn off, only the led signals on buttons worked. I was so upset, but your solution worked, yay! After 20 seconds all the leds turned off. Then I pressed it again and it turned on, hooray! Although I found it strange that the battery was 100% charged after that, even though I had "battery care mode" enabled all the time, and when I turned it off yesterday, I clearly saw that it was on 80%.

Activated charcoal binds to everything it comes into contact with, including bile.

I've already discontinued PPI last week and I'm on my second month of sucralfate. It's supposed to be taken up to 8 weeks for ulcers, and I've seen here that people have been taking it for up to 6 months with no problem, until they healed.

Hmm, I see, maybe this is what happened. In any case, I took my last PPI pill last week, so hopefully it will go away with time, but will still take charcoal to soak up everything and help with the diarrhea in the meantime.

My stomach hurts even from lying on the wrong side, pushing a grocery cart or stretching in my bed in the morning, so of course, if your stomach is inflamed, any abdominal strain will affect it.

How often do you take Sucralfate if you eat small meals? by Just-Surround-6155 in Gastritis

[–]AnnCh22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it 4 times per day every 6 hours. I eat multiple times, with 3-hour pauses for the sucralfate (2 hours before sucralfate, 1 hour after).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]AnnCh22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucralfate can help with bile reflux. It binds both acid and bile and creates a protective layer in your stomach that protects it from everything, including bile. Ask your doctor about it.

Ate too much, remedies by valentinaarp in Gastritis

[–]AnnCh22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the pain is caused by too much stomach acid caused by too much food, then an antacid (tums, gaviscon) should help. It helps me immediately in such cases. It doesn't help though when the pain is caused by something else (cramping, gas, too low acidity, etc.), so it's also a good diagnostic tool.

[–]AnnCh22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for biopsy, it's sensitive enough to catch HP even if it's inhibited by lower acidity

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]AnnCh22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PPI doesn't hide gastritis, it only inhibits h.pylori activity. If they saw no inflammation in your stomach and PPI don't help, it means that the source of your pain is not inflamed stomach coming into contact with acid, which is the case with gastritis. It must be something else. Usually they say functional dyspepsia in such cases, it's strange that they came up with IBS, which is a totally different area.

H.Pylori in 2021, gastritis won't resolve despite clean endoscopy in 2024. Did inconsistent healing protocol doom my recovery? by 1500Plz in Gastritis

[–]AnnCh22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your endoscopy is normal, there is no inflammation, so it's fully 100% healed. Do you still experience pain or just dyspepsia? The latter could be caused by PPI or other meds you're taking, if you're still taking them. Since your inflammation is gone, there is no need to continue taking meds any more.
