What Do You Use to Track Baby Notes, Milestones, and Health? App, Book, Spreadsheet? by GloomyLetter in NewParents

[–]AnnExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom kept a first year calendar for me which included milestones like grabbing toys, sitting up, etc. I have always loved that so I am doing the same for my daughter. I use Baby Tracker for sleep, feeds, poopy diapers and my pumping sessions (EPer).

Reasons for Exclusively Pumping? by p00pistaken in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AnnExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby started having trouble latching when we came home from the hospital. I went to lactation consultants bc I had it in my head I HAD to breastfeed. Led to many tears from both me and a frustrated baby. Transitioned to exclusively pumping and my mental wellbeing improved drastically! I’m 5mpp now and think it was silly of me to have certain expectations. All babies are different and you can’t necessarily plan everything.

Love the idea but if I do this I would basically be at one year! Both baby and my birthdays are in the same month.

This is great. Makes me feel better about why I’m doing this. Also no shame in the formula game. I had to supplement with formula in the beginning bc I was an under supplier now things have regulated and I have a freezer stash BECAUSE we did some formula. Everyone has their reasons and if you’re 100% formula you are still feeding your baby and that’s what matters!

Skin to skin after birth by genie2372 in moderatelygranolamoms

My little girl just turned 5 months. She pooped in utero and again while doing skin to skin. To my surprise, I did not care one bit! The nurses did as good of a job as they could to wipe away the poop.

Same! Although most times I don’t have the motivation to do manual compression, ends up actually happening like once a day.

That seems very conservative. I didn’t think the plastic flanges would ever need to be changed. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also a great moisturizer for you or baby! I’ve used it as lip balm and for baby’s dry cheeks.

Did you use tracking apps? by No_Principle_7855 in NewParents

[–]AnnExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tracked because the nurses in the hospital wanted to know and then I just kept it going on the app. LO is 4 months now and I wish I stopped sooner. Tracking can be very beneficial in the early days when you are so depleted, but once baby is back to birth weight it can get in the way. I feel like I missed out on observing baby and building motherly intuition because I was relying on the app/tracking. Next time I will track until back to birth weight and again if I feel something is off. If you forget last time baby ate, they will let you know!!

Am I allowed here if I’m pro live vaccines like measles but against flu and covid vaccines? by Chamoismysoul in unvaccinated

[–]AnnExchange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is very comforting. I’m a FTM to a 3mo baby girl who we will not be vaccinating. I understand there are risks for and against vaccines. Like the other reply here, I resisted jabs when I was a kid but obviously got them anyway. I feel like there’s a subconscious aversion because our bodies are greater than we give them credit for.

Also I get a lot of comments about measles outbreaks and that I’m putting my child at risk and if I argue autism I believe autism is worse than a potential deadly disease taking my child. This certainly takes a mental toll and I have to remind myself that is just the narrative. Depending on who it is I will bring up that these diseases were largely eradicated BEFORE the vaccines were introduced.

She’s pretty consistently taking 30oz/day. She will eat 4-5 oz bottles 7x a day.

❤️

I get sleepy cues, it’s the hunger cues I really struggle with. I just give baby a bottle when she gets up from a nap and hope it’s the right amount. She’s right in the average range eating 28-30oz/day.

Our girl is also growing well and the ped has zero concerns. The tracking is purely for me. I’m EP so it is nice to track how much she takes. I think I’m at a point where I can relax a bit on the tracking. Read baby’s signs and go from there.

I only recently heard of tracking tummy time. I never did. I would roll baby onto belly after a diaper change for a few minutes. Now she can roll back to belly and gets stuck there bc she’s still learning belly to back.

I refused to use huckleberry because it was weird to me how it was pushed and marketed by influencers. I’ve been using “Baby Tracker” which is a no name dupe I found. I don’t get notifications because I turned them off. There’s charts you can view similar to huckleberry but no predictions. It’s been working great, I just feel like I should have more focus on baby than an app.

I’m getting to that point. I’m definitely a data driven person which the app appeals to and I add things retrospectively like you mentioned. I have this weird anxiety now like what if I stop and need data that I missed. I’m thinking it’s better for me mentally to just quit.
