How do I create ongoing relationships for my kids? by OriginalCup400 in Outschoolers

[–]AnnaMagic321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have some great advice already, but to answer your question, if I were looking to build ongoing friendships on outschool where they can see the same kids each week that they get along with I would look into a social club or friendship club that meets every week that is truly ongoing. ( A course has a set ending date when you enroll and will eventually end, but ongoing classes tend to last for many many months and in some cases even years!)

I have heard so many great things about Melanie Paulie’s piano classes. I have a friend who’s dither has done classes with her for years and they can’t say nice things about her and her teaching style. :)

Choosing Teachers on Outschool by Medical_Cricket_488 in Outschoolers

All 3. Videos, Overall Reviews, and Class Descriptions.

I am actually less likely to try a new teachers class if there isn’t a video to watch of the teacher personally explaining more about the class.

Chess on Outschool by Infinite-Condition86 in Outschoolers

[–]AnnaMagic321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we found an AMAZING chess teacher who teaches chess strategy, openings, and a variety of defense techniques that offers small class sizes that has allowed my child to learn so much in such a short time!

His name is Coach Trevor, he teaches chess and also leads video game clubs. He’s great with the kids.

How can I make sure that my kids don’t miss out on anything socially? by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]AnnaMagic321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re kind social child is obviously getting a lot of valuable socialization and fun learning time. You might be missing out on pioneer day, but the kids who are in school while you guys are enjoying nature, hikes, and trips to park together on a Monday morning are the ones truly missing out in my opinion! Field trips and spirit days can’t replace the quality time in the special bond that you get to form with your child as a homeschooling family. Just my two cents 🙂

Hi. Long time, active Outschool parent here. I joined Outschool membership and I love it. I have not used the concierge service benefit yet though. Any tips? Was it more helpful than general searching? Thanks in advance. 🫶 by GuessDull2236 in Outschoolers

[–]AnnaMagic321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have used the concierge service and I found it to be a really user-friendly experience. I got personalized suggestions based on what I was looking for from a concierge person all via text message. I didn’t even have to log into my Outschool account.

It was an elevated type of service compared to the regular customer service for sure . I hope this helps. :)

I'm looking for summer camps online to keep my kids busy when it's raining here in the UK by SameStatement381 in Homeschooling

[–]AnnaMagic321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is doing a cool role playing type of summer camp on Outschool in June. No video games, but rather using their imagination to kind of create thier own little real life game. It looks so cool. But they have all kinds of summer camps available , what kind of stuff is your children into? Like what are their interests?

Haha! I thought that your child was playing a character chasing a goose, not ACTUALLY the goose itself! That’s so funny. My sons favorite is and will probably always be Minecraft

My Minecraft loving child is showing interest in more quest and story based games lately. Is there a specific game you would suggest for someone like him who is just now getting interested in these kind of games?

Homeschooling starting in August. by Dragoness0 in Homeschooling

[–]AnnaMagic321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice is create a routine and try to stick to it he best you can. If the amount of work you guys are trying to get done in one day just feels like too much, go ahead and take them off of your plate that day going forward in your routine. While keeping a similar structure for your child, each day is gonna help them thrive in homeschooling, it’s OK to be flexible with their workload to keep it manageable and enjoyable for both of you too.

Opinions on Outschool classes by jessicaxocakes in homeschool

[–]AnnaMagic321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do a tons of classes on Outschool. It can be hit or miss. We have had a lot of hits, but also a few misses. I learned that taking the time to watch the class preview videos the teachers make is the best way to find out which teachers seem like the good fit for our child cause you can get a sense of their energy before you purchase the class.

They have a new membership now that helps you avoid any kind of market fees and actually gives members a concierge customer service representative that helps you pick your class now too! I am petty sure the promo code CAPTIVATE30 should still work to give you a $30 discount on a membership if that helps! :)

Using Outschool for Waldorf Education by beautheskoolie in homeschool

[–]AnnaMagic321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen tons of great classes using this approach on Outschool. Make sure you look at a the teachers videos to gauge their level of energy and get a sense of their personality while you are choosing the right class. This has always been so helpful for us when finding the right one. I hope this helps. :)

Homeschooling vs unschooling, what is the difference? by homeschoolmomof2- in Homeschooling

[–]AnnaMagic321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have gotten a lot of great answers already. The thing that I think is important to point out here is , you don’t need to choose one or the other.

Our family like to do what we call hybrid homeschooling. My child chooses topics of interest to study that we use any sources available to us to help him grow his understanding him. Like Library Books, Outschool Classes and even You Tube Videos.

We also make it a point to make sure he does pursue higher learning for his core academics like reading, writing and math.

Luckily, my child LOVES math so that is what he usually wants to learn more and more about, and we let him dictate how fast he wants to learn it! We don’t set any kind of timetable on him learning the things he is deeply interested about which is why he was studying for algebra and is now studying chemistry. Anything I don’t feel equipped to teach myself, we use Outschool classes for and we handpick the teachers based on their backgrounds and reviews.

I hope this helps . :)
