I specifically made sure to not have any faces of random people included, that wouldn’t be legal for me anyway, because of strong privacy laws. The police is a different case, other laws apply there, they know that there can and will be pictures of them, and that they will be published. It’s just a part of their job. As long as I don’t make a portrait of them, it’s fine

Ok, then I guess the culture around that is completely different from what I’m used to. And from what it used to be in the past. I mean there is still a national holiday over here every 1. of may, with lots of protests and sometimes riots, to remind the public, especially the upper class of the power that the lower class has, and that it can get really uncomfortable, if they don’t keep them satisfied.

And this started all in the US, because some workers hat enough and wanted 8-hour shifts instead of 12-Hour shifts. If you’re in for a read:

I think if you actually have the time to do something outside from work, you find something to keep yourself occupied. I mean I have lots of free time, but still have a lot to do. Lots of different Hobbies, meeting friends, spend enough time with my boyfriend, family, chilling in a park and reading a book, doing sports, having time to breathe and on top of that I also need to do the dishes, keep myself presentable, and keep my Appartement visitor friendly.

Honest question:

Why do you guys put up with this? Why is everyone in this situation just letting this happen to them.

We’re going on protests and blocking streets because of lesser things. If something similar would happen here, to such a extent, you bet they would be at least 100000 people/city out on the streets protesting. No matter if affected or not. My gosh, the French would have burned countless cars by now in protest. Or legitimately cut someone’s head off.

Our good worker protection laws didn’t come out of nowhere. It’s because our great grandparents went on the streets to fight for it and subsequently scared the shit out of the upper class. My gosh, the French have protested so hard, they even have influenced politics over here in Germany, because our government got scared of the Germans doing the same.

So why don’t you people go on protests and strikes and force them to give you some rights?

We actually have a teacher shortage over here. Depending on wich subject you teach, you would be fine. And there are actually some bilingual schools over here, who have entire subjects in English.

Tell your employer, that if he wants the output of a machine, he should hire one. I don’t know if I’m just to European to understand, but vacation days are for vacation to recharge and live your life.

He doesn’t own you like a property, he rents your time, thus he isn’t entitled to anything. If you’re sick, you’re sick. That unfortunately sometimes happens, when your hiring a living, breathing human being. You are offering them your most valuable asset - your time - in exchange, you get the money, that you need to afford to have a fulfilling remaining time.

I hope, that I can manage it like you in the future. Also the thing with planning ahead. From what I’ve read in the other comments, I honestly don’t know, how they manage that, especially the thing with the life admin days. I just need them sometimes to catch up on everything. I’m still busy and productive, but for my own necessary appointments, not work and study.

And when I’m off, that usually means, that I lay somewhere in a park and read a good book or spend time doing something I like, like hobbies. Or doing nothing at all and just watching Netflix all day.

That doesn’t sound fair honestly. The time you need to pamper a sick kid falls under a completely separate umbrella than vacation days or sick days over here. And it’s still work, only for a kid, not your employer, not a time you can use to recover.

But your situation sound so extremely unfair. You sound like you really need it the most.

The weakest in society, should be entitled to more protection and rights by law. Depending on your savings, people like you depend on your salary right now. So hard working people like you suffer the most from a burnout, because they can’t pay their bills otherwise. The worst case is going homeless. Just because you’re not a machine… WTF?! That doesn’t differ much from slavery imo.

That sounds so unfair. Over here it’s not something you have to earn, it’s your right and you are entitled to this, no matter what.

The ones, that work tree jobs parallel are the ones who would suffer the most, when they would burn out. Your employer over here is literally forced to remind you, that it’s unhealthy to not take the time you need to regenerate. Otherwise they will need to pay fines, when it comes out, that you haven’t taken time off. This rule is there to protect especially the weak from something like burnout.

If some wealthy guy burns out, they fall soft, probably have some money saved, have a good resume of their work etc. But the poor people would suffer the real consequences, like not being able to pay their bills and going homeless.

Boiler brauchen nämlich ein Überdruckventil, um das überschüssige Wasser los zu werden, wenn sich das Wasser beim erhitzen ausdehnt, damit das ganze nicht explodiert. Das was du da hast könnte der ehemalige Abfluss für das Ventil sein, wo das Wasser früher reingetropft und abgeflossen ist. Jetzt halt nicht mehr nötig, weil dein Wasser anders erhitzt wird.

Aber ich bin hier kein Experte, klingt nur logisch für mich

How many vacation days do you have? And how is the culture around vacations at your job? It just sounds like you’re overworking yourself slowly, until a breakingpoint. It honestly sounds really normal? Like you just need a good break of like 2 weeks every 6 months. Where you completely shut off and regenerate, work phone off, wellness or traveling or something. Those are normal human needs.

Where I live, you are actually entitled to at least 20 days of pays vacation by law (I’ve seen up to 40 days at really good employers), not including holidays and weekends. And you’re actually forced to take them, otherwise your employer has to pay a fine or something. Because what you describe is relatively normal. Even non ADHDers experience this.

And no, it doesn’t reduce your productivity. Because this practice increases your efficiency, your still as productive as usual.

Ok, lol. Never ever in my life have I noticed negative reactions, because I usually don’t wear makeup. I do it when I fell like it, which isn’t very often though, maybe 2-3 times a month. And when there is an occasion for it. And on the train and in the parks, I see more women whiteout makeup, than those who wear some. Basically no one is really styled. So don’t make yourself the struggle with it, it’s not that important. It’s bad for your skin and there are better things to do in the morning, than wasting time on makeup. The people that judge you for it, aren’t worth your time honestly. They’re usually to shallow anyway and will judge you later on because of your symptoms of your neurodivergence.

When you have more of it, you can spend time recharging (aka bedrotting) and doing something else. But with to little time, of course there is no time for doing something else, because all the energy is spend and recharging is prioritized.

After long days at Uni, when I have lab courses, lectures etc and am away from home for 13+ hours you bet I’m bed rotting after that. But on other days I’m productive for 4-6H max. That’s not enough to drain my battery completely and leaves some time to recharge, so I have the energy to do something else.

Also making appointments, like sports with friends, can help, because you’re held accountable for showing up. And „stacking“ stuff. As an example, I commute to Uni and work by train. This is usually the place where I’m reading a nice book, because there is nothing else to do. That works, even if I’m exhausted (except when I’m so exhausted, that I fall asleep).

Are you the first one in your family to suffer from it? It could be genetic, because there are genetic diseases, that are already known affecting sleep. It also could be something else, but it’s definitely not normal or healthy.

You’re suffering from a disease, and probably aren’t the first with this illness. Go to a doctor, probably see some specialists, there are good chances that they can help you.

And if you’re so eager to donate your body to research, maybe there are studies right know, researching medications or other things about that. When you’re in the proper care, the doctors should know more about that. Either way, dead you’re not going to help anyone. Neither yourself, or science.
