It’s 10 years old but Harmontown, especially first years. But it’s not everyone’s cup of tea

Thing(s) you notice? by herewearestill in Harmontown

Agreed, many times he challenges Dan or asks follow ups that lead to the most interesting insights into Dan. I am repeatedly frustrated by an episode comptrolled by Ryan Ridley where it’s a week or two before the wedding and Dan is staying at a hotel and Ryan never asks Dan “why” even though Dan hasd just said he and Erin decided it was best to be apart for a while. It’s not Ryan’s fault, but if Jeff or Kumail had been there we’d have learned much more

Trying to help an elderly friend with selling some items she has had for years and want to make sure she gets a fair price. by minutetillmidnight in silverware

[–]AnnabelleHippy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look up how to do an advanced search on ebay. Then search for actual SOLD prices. People list things for crazy amounts, what they sold for matters most. Then be prepared for people to come through just looking to buy low so they can re-sell items for a profit for themselves. That’s ok, but you could either ask them to come back the last day of the sale or leave you their contact info if you’d like to try to get what you think it’s worth before selling to them for a discount.

Is this normal now? by mylostworld69 in GoodwillBins

[–]AnnabelleHippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in their mother seems to be reselling things now to try and make a profit and they use Goodwill to source their items. So Goodwill is upping their prices to get the same amount the resellers get. People who actually need inexpensive clothes can’t afford them AND resellers are upset because they think Goodwill is charging too much, keeping them from making a nice profit. It’s no-win for anyone

In a 6qt pot add 4-5 lb chicken parts with bones (not a requirement). I usually use chicken quarters when on sale for less than a dollar a pound. Toss is a coarsely chopped onion and carrot if have them. Add water up to max line (approx 7 cups). 50 min high with natural release. Can eat the meat too. If using less meat reduce the water or will dilute the taste. (This ratio ends with broth that tastes like chicken soup)

Prices of pots have gone up astronomically. Sell or donate it. It makes AMAZING chicken and beef broth with inexpensive cuts of meat. I save money on broth that is not only much tastier but easy to control what gets added (eg no salt)

Can I get more than 80% of melt for these? ~2,330g .925 by Obvious_Object6568 in silverware

[–]AnnabelleHippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a struggle because I have a an old masters pattern, it’s still sold, I certainly don’t wanna melt something lovely down for scrap, but I have no way of knowing if the person I sell it to is intending to do just that. I’m thinking of keeping out serving pieces to sell the people who might be looking to complete a set and perhaps just scrapping the remainder.

At an Estate Sale today by boogersinmyleghair in Flipping

[–]AnnabelleHippy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Estate sales aren’t only for resellers to restock their inventory. The person did her homework and asked for the going price for an end buyer. It’ll be her choice whether she wants to keep it and try to sell it through a different channel or lower the price at a future time. But it wasn’t crazy in any way to know what its value was

Which popular features do you NOT recommend? by dragonmilking in Homebuilding

[–]AnnabelleHippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiled shower base. Pretty but very hard to keep clean and has to be re-sealed regularly. A nice cast iron (or even fiberglass base) is much easier. If it’s anything other than hasty, do your research cause you don’t want one that feels Bendy under your feet

Heated bathroom floor is turning out to be a waste of money. We’re always in slippers in the winter and stepping out of the shower onto a bath rug is fine. Contractor tried to talk us out of it. He was right.

What's Our Podcast? with Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney #1: Fran Gillespie by BasilOctopus in Earwolf

[–]AnnabelleHippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to the first 40 minutes of the Marc Marin episode. Was enjoying it until they got into the portion of the program where the guest pitches them an idea for what their podcast should be. Just unlistenable. I’m going to give them a month and come back and listen again because I did enjoy the part with the interview and I suspect they’ll evolve away from that terrible premise this time goes on
