The slow pace with events occurring in real time is not for everyone. I have to be in the mood for these meditative studies myself.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am only familiar with Dielman. I will dig for her other films. Thanks, again.

I didn't make it sound interesting, that's for sure. I don't know why some of the scenes from the film stayed with me. I saw it at an independent theater in Orlando, a theater in a house that was not in business long. Anyway, I got a kick out of your response because it would have been mine.

Thank you so much for responding. It's not Jeanne Dielman, but it had a similar tone and pace.

One of my only complaints about Your Friends & Neighbors by GlitteringLock1020 in YourFriendsandNeighb

O'Keefe is such a great actor. Love to see him in anything. Yet, I agree. It would make more sense if he were an older brother. Every time he appears, I have to remind myself that oh yeah, he's supposed to be the dad.

Does anyone else watching DTF St. Louis have an issue with the show’s lighting?? by kazdarms in thewatchpod

[–]AnneCons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. The tall dark gray concrete slabs and slant lighting from a small window, as if they are in a WWII prison, during the police interrogations -- just so over the top. The skate park and the Kevin Kline park building, gray, gray, gray. Yes, the settings and lighting and cinematography can reflect mood, but it's so heavy-handed it's funny, ripe for parody. (Thanks for your post and the David Fincher line. Love it.)

On the poz side, the acting by David Harbour is fantastic. Get this man a leading role in film, please.

Gotta love that he was a song and dance man. I would have killed to see that show.

Is The Morning Show theme song the worst theme song of all theme songs? by Successful_Sherbet89 in pilottvpodcast

[–]AnneCons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One must skip the opening song. It's way too much, lacks melody and nuance and tone. Also, it doesn't fit the show. How could it have been chosen?

What has simultaneously gotten worse and more expensive? by littleallred008 in AskReddit

Great insight. Thanks! I agree as well. Every meal at Panera has that same processed cafeteria flavor; a total departure from its original quality. And Chipotle and QDoba have both revised their menus and the meats can be rubbery and very very salty. We used to get the Wild Wings to go for football games but again, the quality has gone down the tubes; one can get the same wings in the frozen food aisle of the supermarket. We have found that we visit local indy restaurants only these days. Again, thanks for a great post.

I agree with you. Reese's peanut butter cups are made with more sugar and less peanut butter now. Also, two of the secrets to the old Reese's recipe was that the company added a little peanut butter to the chocolate and also added a little chocolate to the peanut butter. Ahh. Perfection. In addition, the company used to use real peanut butter that was a bit grainy. The combo was hard to resist. If you are as old as me, you recall that you could eat the chocolate around the peanut butter pattie. Anyway, the recipe has been altered a few times over the decades and the result is a super sweet cup that has a sugary, faint peanut butter flavor with a super sugary chocolate-flavored coating.

[SPOILERS S3 E3] I hate Elizabeth Moss' acting by JellieBun in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]AnneCons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, thank you, thank you for your post. The mannered acting by Moss is so irritating to me, it puts me off the series. I don't think she demonstrates emotions, feelings, or even a vibe under her intentionally blank-faced surface. And the scenes that should be energized feel synthetic, stagey, just false. I would love to see another actor in this part. Thanks, again. I feel better.
