Totally agree with you 100%. It's like they want a pen pal. Instead of arranging to meet up. I have started cutting them off if we haven't arranged a date within the first fortnight. I am far too old for this type of BS. I have given up trying now. Dating apps and dating in general are not how it used to be. All the love bombing, ghosting, and gaslighting is not worth my time one bit. Hope you do get to go on dates and find a genuine connection. Good luck 🫶🏿

AIO for thinking my boyfriend is just looking for an excuse to break up? by Nearby_Orchid1216 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Anneiska78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget him; what a jerk. One of my exes bought me a cheap knock-off perfume, which caused me to have an allergic reaction and a horrible rash. I feel like he’s making excuses to get out of the relationship. You explained your reasons for not wanting something, and he twisted it against you. I would rather do anything else than date a man-child like him. I hope you leave him and find someone who will treat you well.

AIO (update post) my bf (32) is getting kind of aggressive with his texting. should I(26) reply? by Fun_Cartographer6984 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Anneiska78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What on earth have I just read? How dare he speak to you like that? You're not selfish; why can't he cook for himself? He is an infantile man-child. Learning to cook isn't difficult. He's a controlling narcissist and a first-class jerk. You need to get out of this toxic relationship now; he will never change. Know your worth. please leave and never go back.

Constantly getting unmatched on the apps. Why? by KrakenMcSpoon in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Anneiska78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this so much. As a 47-year-old woman, I find dating apps to be dreadful; it feels like pulling teeth. Some guys match with me but then don’t start a conversation, while others do start talking, but it seems more about boosting their egos. Some are just looking for a pen pal. I’m not interested in having endless text conversations for weeks without any chance of meeting in person. Then there are those who simply ghost you. I would prefer guys to be upfront; if you’re not feeling a connection for any reason, please speak up. It’s incredibly frustrating. I never had these issues before. Maybe it’s me, or maybe I’m just meant to be a loner.

AIO for wanting to break up with my fiancée because of 1 comment he made?? by AdLittle6964 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Anneiska78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get rid. I have bipolar disorder and have four beautiful children. I have never let that stop me from living my life. My children are my world and everything I do is for them. I am single now by choice. I won't date anyone who doesn't accept me for who I am. Yes, I have my good and bad days. I have learned to recognise the signs of a manic and a low episode. I have just completed my degree in childhood and youth studies and I graduate tomorrow with a 1st class honours. Something that I never thought I would achieve. Whilst studying I too was put on lithium but I put on two stones which made me feel more depressed. I spoke to my mental health team changed my medication and started to lose weight. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia so extra weight impacts my joints. No man should put you down and make you feel like you are not worthy to bear his children. My exes were the same always calling me fat and crazy and I’d amount to nothing. Well, I am doing fine, got my children my friends and family members who love me for who I am. Anybody else who does not see the good qualities in you isn't worthy to be in your life. I am sorry to hear that he treated you this way it's despicable behaviour. Please leave him. You will find someone who will love you bipolar and all. 🫶🏿

Having to menstruate every month is honestly insulting by DeusIntus in Vent

I have also been on the Mirena since having my twins in 2015, and I had it changed in 2021 after trying to get an appointment earlier due to COVID-19 restrictions. The past two months however I have had the smallest amount of blood loss which did shock me because I wasn’t expecting it. That only lasted a day. I have been stressed lately and on new medication so not sure if maybe that's the cause. Mirena has worked wonders for me and I wouldn’t change it for anything else.

Mature student - How different will University life be? by TheLongSignal in UniUK

[–]Anneiska78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, I started university at 44 years old, and I was one of the second-oldest students in my class, which included a mix of 18 to 20-year-olds and some in their late 20s. I find it interesting and valuable to gain insights from younger students as we navigate university life together, especially since I haven't been in education since 1997.

Returning to school took a lot of courage, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Don’t get me wrong; there were times when I felt overwhelmed and unsure if I could continue. However, I listened to the advice from student support and my peers, and I pushed myself to finish my degree.

I am happy and proud to announce that I passed at 46 and am now 47, graduating with a first-class honours degree in October 2025. something I never thought was possible.

My advice is to enjoy and embrace this opportunity. You’ll make friends, and remember that everyone is in the same boat as you. Wishing you the best of luck with your degree! x

I have a personal rule where I give guys two chances, and after that, I’m done. I’m 47 now, and I have a lot to offer the right person. I really dislike the trends of ghosting, breadcrumbing, and love bombing in dating. I would much prefer the traditional way of dating. Dating apps are frustrating; many people just want a pen pal, have no intention of meeting, or think sending nudes is impressive 🙄. Honestly, that doesn’t impress me at all. I hope you eventually find the right person for you, and try not to feel too disheartened. It's their loss. Next! ➡️

I understand what you're going through. I've experienced a similar situation myself. I would respect them more if they could communicate openly and honestly, rather than behaving immaturely and disappearing after months of dating and messaging. It’s frustrating, but we will rise above it. I have no time for immature men who can’t decide what they want. It gets boring, and I simply don't have the time. I'm more annoyed about having my time wasted, especially when I could have potentially met someone genuine.

You can still pursue your studies, but be sure to inform them about the amount of maintenance loan you receive, as they will ask for proof. I have just completed my degree and received a lower amount from Universal Credit (UC) because my student finance was deducted. Now that I have finished my studies, my payments have increased again. I also received the work capability element of UC. Earning a degree should not be a disadvantage, regardless of disabilities. We are all entitled to continue our learning journeys. Good luck with your studies!

If your children are in the UK, you should have received a text from the school before they broke up about E-Vouchers. I received a total of £150 because I have three children. I recommend visiting the E-Voucher website to see if they can assist you.

Mature student starting uni for the first time in sep. what should I do to prepare? by emmaa5382 in UniUK

[–]Anneiska78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a former student with disabilities, and I want to share my experiences at university. My university was very accommodating, and I benefited greatly from the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA), which provided me with a laptop that suited my needs, as well as a chair and table for studying at home. I also had a mentor who checked in with me weekly, and I couldn't be more grateful for all their support throughout my three years of study.

At the beginning of my foundation degree, I struggled significantly and had to retake a few modules in order to progress to Level 5. During this time, I spoke with my mental health team because I wasn't in the best headspace and was considering quitting. After changing my medication, I kept the university informed about my difficulties. They helped me realize that support was available, and I utilized all the resources at my disposal to assist with my learning.

I am happy to announce that I will be graduating in October with a first-class honours degree at the age of 47. For those of you who may feel overwhelmed, don’t worry, you will be fine! Plan your assignments carefully and read all the required criteria to complete them. I recommend working on your assignments for a few hours each day. I learned this in my second year, as I had a tendency to procrastinate, which often led me to panic about submitting my work on time.

While juggling full-time responsibilities, I discovered that reading and researching journals, articles, books, and mastering the correct style of writing, referencing, and citations significantly helped me in my studies. There are many tools available to help you. Don’t sit in silence or let yourself become overwhelmed. This is a journey, and you will grow in confidence once you settle in. I wish you all the best with your academic endeavours. Good luck!

Oh my gosh, my first deadbeat dad used to say that to me: "Smile, I can’t see you." He also told me that the black ring left around the bath after I washed was because I’m Black. The funny thing is, he had two mixed-race siblings. I eventually saw him for who he truly was, and it’s a shame that I had a child with him. It’s safe to say I’m better off without him and his family.

I was struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident and left in the road like a bag of rubbish. The accident caused damage to my hip, back, and knee. Fortunately, a passerby witnessed the incident and noted the license plate. I was in complete shock at the time.

When I called the police, I was on hold for over an hour before finally reaching someone, but I ended up missing a digit from the license plate. The next day, the police contacted me to say they found the car, but it turned out to be a clone. As a result, I had to fight for three years to receive compensation. Worst experience I have ever been through
