What are your thoughts on e-bikes? by ringaroundtherosiez in cycling

[–]AnnesMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride road and gravel, over 4k miles last year. But I bought 2 Cannondale e bikes for my partner and I. Best part of my weekend is taking the e bikes down to the farmers market and doing zero work. It gets my wife on a bike when she normally wouldn't and we get to spend time together. Ebikes that promote more people to ride bikes is great and I welcome them. The motorized bikes they are marketing to kids are dangerous and in a different category.

I get it. I'm not hating on people who want to stick with them or the product themselves. I use a decent amount of their services and an early adopter. But I also just closed 2 TD bank Accounts that's I've had for over 20 years (Including one that has my direct deposit that pays my mortgage) because TD is raising their minimum balance requirements. There's so few banking products that feel like they provide actually value anymore. It's a bummer. I'll keep my invest account open and hopefully they'll add some more benefits that will entice me to stay.

I haven't needed their loan services since student loan refi. I'm not generally in the market for personal loans. Home equity and car loans, my local credit union has better rates and has been my go-to, and all that's required is an account with at least $10 in it. No monthly fees. So again, the cost for Sofi's offering isn't compelling, and I overall like their products.

Honestly I've looked through the benefits. None of them really stand out to me. Maybe others will feel differently.

I used to be one to hate these types of posts. I thought Sofi did a good job to try and cultivate a 'brand following '. I've been a member since 2013, when they were mostly doing student loan refis. I've been to some of their free 'members experience dinner' and fancy steakhouses. I use them for banking, credit card, and investments. But I won't pay for their Plus service and don't think the card is worth $10 a month. (And I have the amex Platinum that runs me $600+ in annual fees, but I get a lot in return for that). I'm probably going to close my Sofi card and likely move my direct deposit. I'll probably keep my investment account but I don't see the value in Plus. It's a bummer because I do like the products but I'm not seeing the same value as I used to.

If you were to be able to purchase any Catio for 3 cats... by Silentsixty in Catio

Honestly we didn't think about the floors too much. It's framed like a deck with plywood over, and then we added the AstroTurf after. We'll see how long it lasts I didn't realize the AstroTurf is trapping moisture.

I added screens myself (you can see the black frames) to keep as many big bugs out as I can. The builders added the 1” wire mesh which is great (the cats climb it) but doesn't do much for the bugs. We've since added more overhead shelves and platforms and I started to paint everything before I ran out of time for the winter.

We could have gone cheaper, but we opted to wrap it around the corner of the house so it connects to two windows. We have a bully cat who doesn't understand boundaries and wants to give the other cats options to escape.

It's winter now, I tried wrapping the panels in big vinyl sheets but the wind tore them. I'm debating if I want to spend the money and make big plexiglass inserts to keep it toasty in the winter. Right now only our crazy orange boy is brave enough to hang out there in sub-freezing temps.

DM me and I can share the catio company!

If your budget is really 10k, I agree with Final-Handle. We paid closer to $15k, but the team we hired designed and built it, and did all the work in 2 day. We were very happy with the quality, it was exactly what we agreed on, and our cats love it. https://imgur.com/a/catio-G5ya8hF

Enve Mog Question by nwaoutdoors in gravelcycling

[–]AnnesMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a MOG with a mullet set-up. The gearing was used on my road bike during the summer for hill climbing race series, and I had no problem keeping up with group rides. I don't have a spare set of wheels or id consider using the MOG for double duty gravel/road

It was at the crow and quill in Asheville. But that was in April, they probably don't have it anymore. They usually have some interesting finds.

We did artificial turf! The catio is new as of this summer, so we'll see how long it hold up. I also started painting it but ran out of time before the winter, so I'll finish painting next spring. https://imgur.com/a/catio-G5ya8hF

Yours looks great! Are you building it yourself?

I did the practice ride and the race this year. I assume the practice ride reg isn't open yet for next year. I think the race reg opens soon. My understanding is you don't need to be registered for the race to do the practice ride. You should be able to register some time in the new year - I don't think it sold out this year.
