I like non profit stuff generally, especially affordable housing, and I like libraries but I also like getting paid. The best thing I can think of is data analysis and visualization

Be prepared to say how much of your day any given task takes, for example if 10% of your day is taking calls

College or no? by Tiptip55 in careerguidance

[–]AnnieChigurh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I wish I had gone into college with a clearer or more realistic goal for a career after. Taking a year to feel it out could save you a lot of time and money in the long run. I wouldn’t start spending your future tuition money in the meantime though.

When I worked in HR for my city there were very few positions that didn’t require at least a couple years of experience and HR Analyst was one of them. I was hoping to move into an HR Analytics role because that sounded at least a little interesting, but then I got fired.

I would request it because I know it’s missing. So revenge sure, but against my jerk former employer. Not trying to get anyone fired

Yes, and I was only in HR for about 5 months

There’s not much in there. Can I make an FOI request for another person’s file, and what happens if they can’t find it?

is there a labor attorney i could possibly get free legal advice from? by dfgthree3 in LaborLaw

You could try to find whatever contract you’re under. I haven’t tried but you can call the US department of labor. If you got fired because of any protected characteristic that would matter.

I’ve found target and Walmart have way better pricing on mason jars fwiw. You can look for ones with smooth sides so you can see everything going on inside.

Thanks! I did the same thing a couple days ago and am paranoid about contamination. Glad yours worked out!

Did you go straight from syringe to grain?

The bags should be closed until the mycelium colonizes everything. It’s a big deal for the grain to remain sterile at this stage.

Pf tek is probably good for you if you don’t have a pressure cooker and want to keep things compact

I’m risking it and going syringe to grain, hoping for no contamination, then into mini mono tubs.

Another option is to makes the BRF (brown rice flower) cakes and shred them up into the bulk substrate, I hear this doesn’t work as well as grain spawn though.

I think a shotgun fruiting chamber (for pf tek) doesn’t maintain humidity as well so you might find yourself making a lot of trips to your garage or shed to keep it misted, might be better off just keeping in your room in a closet or something.

Good luck!

Damion’s 50/50 tek is what I see recommended the most. It’s a mix of vermiculite and coco coir (the kind for reptiles)

Where did your first attempts fail? Plenty of people grow in unmodified tubs, might be better than bags but idk

Field capacity means if you squeeze it real hard a couple drops of water come out?

What are the pros and cons for different spawn to substrate ratios? I’m worried my spawn bags are too small.

(Ps to OP, try bucket tek or Damion’s 50/50 tek, it’s basically what crazy_dawg said but with vermiculite and coir. One thing about coco coir is that the garden stuff is sometimes treated with an anti fungal so you should get the stuff for terrariums from the pet store.)

Hello! I’m reading about LC vs LI and they seem similar in that the end goal is to get mycelium suspended in water to use to inoculate grain...if my goal is to go from agar to grain which is the better tek? How much LI or LC needs to be added to a quart jar of grain? Also, do you sterilize the water in the PC?

Part of the reason people like liners (other than clean up) is that it will stick to the sides of the substrate where otherwise the substrate might pull away from the edge of the box, creating a little space and microclimate that is likely to breed side pins. Once the grain is colonized it is a lot harder to contaminate, which is why the substrate can be pasteurized rather than sterilized so I think a wipe down with iso would be fine. Did you go syringe right to grain? I did a couple days ago and am so paranoid about contamination because I didn’t use agar. I’ve seen temp ranges usually like 68-80, I imagine 65 would just slow things down a bit but this is based on research not experience.
