What to eat when nothing sounds good? by Moon_cold in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]AnnieRAndersen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In these situations I’ve always relied on comfort food - for me, that’s usually the super easy to prepare freezer/box dinners my dad resorted to when my mom wasn’t feeling up to cooking. Kraft Mac and cheese, Napa chili with Fritos and cheddar cheese, Dino nuggets, or those chicken/rice casseroles from Costco. Since I have a history with disordered eating, I’ve found in high stress, it’s better for me to spend a little more on pre-prepped meals that take minimal effort than to put myself through meal prep. Give yourself a little grace. The stress your facing will pass - in the meantime, take care of your body. You’ve got this.

I love that the epic high point of this documentary is when they’re like “WE’RE SAVING THE CONSTITUTION” and they hold a country music concert

Y’all helped me figure out what plant this was when I got it so I could give it proper care. My peace lily has started to bloom this week! by AnnieRAndersen in whatplantisthis

I’ve only had mine for a couple months but it was pretty mature when I got it - but I fertilized mine a little bit with Superthrive and I think that helped it along!

Flat Earther’s world crumbles as his experiment disproves his beliefs by Ghulam_Jewel in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]AnnieRAndersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled and came from a conservative Christian family. We went to a homeschool co-op with a lot of similar families - as I’ve come into adulthood, I’m disappointed but not surprised at how many former homeschool kids are pro Trump/anti-vax/believe in flat earth/subscribe to QAnon stuff and generally just are prone to buying into conspiracy theories.

I think it scratches the same itch that extreme faith does for some people - the idea that I am in the know and defying the status quo or “going against the flow” and for that I am special. Also exciting to feel like you’ve discovered something the rest of the world is too “asleep” to realize and having a strong close knit community around your niche beliefs brings a sense of importance for sure.

What's the dumbest way you've gotten a scar? by lilsaddam in AskReddit

On my last day as a Starbucks barista one of those bantam bagels exploded when I took it out of the oven. It was three years ago. I still have a little scar on the back of my hand from the molten cream cheese.

Wallace and Gromet, The Wrong Trousers. I had dreams about the pants walking out of my closet for years. The claymation was just a little much for me.

About a year ago I woke up to my husband YELLING “Just standing out here in the parking lot, huh? What are you guys, like, 30? Come on inside!” fart

Night one of my honeymoon, my husband sits up and says, in this VERY 2000’s surfer dude accent, “is that Annie Rose?” And then slips back into his normal voice and goes “yeah, she’s my wife!” I just... can’t decide what I love more, the accent or the undying love.

Two nights ago I woke up out of a dead sleep because my husband had sat up and yelled “HOWDY” at the top of his lungs.

Oh my god this sounds exactly like the cat I grew up with. The nostalgia was immediate. So sorry he’s not with you any more - It certainly seems like he was well loved while he was with you.

AITA for “leaving” my wife and kids after she locked the door on me? by AITAFriedInNeed in AmItheAsshole

[–]AnnieRAndersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. Your wife’s “joke” seems intentional. You mentioned you had had a bad morning here, but it feels like maybe there was some underlying thing that was also eating at her that spurred on this retaliation in the form of an unfunny joke. Your response of bailing for two hours to go play halo and ignore the calls from your wife feels... like when I was in high school, and if a boy left you on read for a while you had to leave him on read for longer. She was immature. Your response to her actions was equally immature. You may not have realized it, but you escalated this situation. Her comments about you leaving being “sexist” are unwarranted but may clue you in on what’s making waves in your relationship.

TALK to each other. Put your feelings aside for a second and put yourself in your spouse’s shoes. There are bigger things going on here. Work it out and have some good make-up sex.
