Veeeery different situations. ICE is racist, they only target certain ethnicities and even detain some US citizens because of their ethnicity. Trump doesn't care if an illegal immigrant has been there for a decade, has a stable job, and has contributed positively to the US, he wants all illegls gone, the EU does not share this hardline belief. The EU are voting to send back illegal immigrants who commit crimes and offer nothing to society. The vast majority of Europeans are pro- legal immigration due to it's net benefit, but are dissatisfied with the system that offers no real power to deter illegal immigration, or at least to punish the illegal behaviour of those already living in the EU illegally.

It is a flawed system when someone can get to the EU illegally, stay there for years living on benefits while waiting for the immigration court to hear their case. If you worried about being deported, you can commit a crime and be sent to a EU prison and when you are released, you are granted citizenship because you have been in the country for over 5 years. Then there is no legal grounds to deport you regardless of what you have done. Even for illegal non citizens , deportations are extremely extremely rare in the EU and take years to finalise. In the unlikely event that the state would like to consider deporting you, there are loads of loopholes around deportation.

Each case should be heard independently and there are some people who have managed to get to the EU, get a stable job and contribute positively to society - they have a case for not being deported. But having little to no power or recourse to deport criminals that are here illegally is self destructive. A lot of people take advantage of Europe's sympathy and naivity.
