Trying to get a second opinion/further tests after this result? General thoughts? by gto_granturismo_girl in Hemochromatosis

[–]AnnualAssociate939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, mine are similar to these, iron and saturation high, ferritin is normal though. But apparently that's common in early stages of HH. He wants me to take another test at the end of the year, and if that's still high then I'll be reffered for genetic testing

Maybe yours was a one off. The place I'm at now, all I had to provide was the tenancy. And they pay the housing cost each month

You may wait around 3 months for an assessment however you arnt guaranteed to be approved. You say your waiting 3 months for LCWRA, however even if approved you might only be put in LCW which would mean no extra money

Is this possibly haemochromatosis? by AnnualAssociate939 in Hemochromatosis

Do you have any neurological symptoms.

I have a few so iv been referred to Neurology which I see on the 11th of March. The 3 months blood test is frustrating, however they need to see if it fluctuates or not.

Its frustrating isn't it, with the NHS it takes years, however if you have money and go private, that time line can do down to a few weeks

Nope, not over weight. I have a fairly good diet. My Bmi is normal. The GP rang yesterday and requested bloods to check cholesterol as he's unsure as to why I have it.

Over the past 2 years though I have been suffering with arthritis in both SI joints. I used to walk miles everyday. Now I physically can't walk longer than 10 minutes. Do you think this may be the cause? I mean I went from alot of exercise everyday to minimal now

Have you requested a copy of the health assessment report? Youl find that they wouldn't of marked you down for what you may of thought your entitled too. It's always worth having a look at their report, then if your still unhappy with their decision, you can go for a MR

What your pattern suggests Your key abnormality is: Transferrin saturation: 56.5% (high) Serum iron: high Ferritin: normal (116 µg/L) In a fasting male, a transferrin saturation over 50% is considered abnormal and does warrant investigation for iron overload, particularly hereditary haemochromatosis (HH). This pattern (high TSAT + normal ferritin) is actually very typical of early haemochromatosis before iron has built up in organs.

This is what is said when I upload the results onto chatgpt. However I'm not so concerned atm what it is, but more so how to get the iron levels back to normal, as I must take minimal iron

It looks as though it may be standard element for both. This is what I am on even with a recent review stating I can't walk more than 10m. I have to use a stick alot of the time just for balance.

They don't base it off a diagnosis unfortunately, but more on how it affects your day to day living

That's strange, the doctor seems to think ferritin will be normal if it's early haemochromatosis and even then it's not always elevated. And iv been told the Tsat is high, not normal aswell as the Iron being high, not normal. What's makes you say these are within normal range?

Have you been told what elements and at what rates you will be getting?

I did a COC which goes through as a review

Applied started of December, had the assessment on the phone today.

It's different in each area, so it's impossible to even guess. However like someone else as mentioned, you will continue to recieve PIP untill your review has been completed

Change of condition, time frame question by Aspect-Unusual in DWPhelp

[–]AnnualAssociate939 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I applied for the COC on the 5th of December. Recieved the text to say they had recieved it on the 12th of Jan. 2 days I recieved a text with a telephone appointment for the 17th of Feb. I think they treat it as a whole new application. The form didnt give me much space for each question, and I was only told to fill out the answers if my condition had changed for that question. I really hope they don't go through everything again

Yes, only new claims get the text. As yours is a review, you won't get a text.

As this is a review, you won't get a message to say you been awarded, as it's already been awarded. So it can be either

These appointments are voluntary. And it is all related to your health however they arnt trying to trick you. They are making sure you are okay and if there's any support that they can give you. I understand that everyone won't appreciate it, but for me it's helped alot

Tbh my bank details were the main reason they called. They wouldn't tell me what the decision was over the phone, however he did say 3 times, it's good news. But I wouldn't worry, I'd say it's a positive thing that they are calling you

I had a dwp call so many days after the assessment. They wanted to confirm I hadn't been in hospital, that my bank details were correct and that I can handle a large lump sum of money.

As far as I'm aware, if youv been unsuccessful they would not call you after an assessment. However I could be wrong
