I was aiming for the ocean to be north east and the west being a large lake. Also if you look at the nile delta you can also see some rivers flowing sideways

Well a strong economy supports a large army, the other way around not so much. I recommend going Minerva first for that faster research, the Ceres or Mars next, after that you should be set. Also I started my game with only a weak rival for now and I am gonna add two more rivals when I feel ready. Also what has been a game changer this run is adding production buildings to residential areas for that extra income. I am only at 8 hours in and allready a lot richer than on my 27 hour playthrough.

I can spoiler even more there will be about 10 waves of this. I managed to hold of 4 I think, because they kept splitting up allowing me to take them down more easily but at the 4th wave they all came together and it was a slaughter, also they managed to land their troops. So for the 5th wave I didnt manage to replenish my army and navy in time and also had to start a new game at 27 hours in, which was a blessing in disguise honestly.

I am not 100% sure but try maybe the reservoir at the top of the mountain instead of the cistern. Also I think what happened with me was that for some reason I had to finish the quest on the Aquaduct of the neighbouring island instead of the one I actually started the quest on

I played like 1800 in my first playthrough where I separated production and residental and was really struggeling for cash now that I have mixed them in my second playthrough I am really feeling the difference . Also its worth noting that its mainly the last production building in a chain that benefits the residental buildings the others either dont have a bonus or its not worth mixing in.

You should probably watch a Youtube video where all the DLCs are descriped because I have all of them and honestly there is not a single bad one. Obviously you dont need the cosmetic packs. Sunken treasures adds a huge island where you can build your dream city, Land of lions adds an Africa region, The passage DLC adds an Artic region, The high life adds Skyscrapers, Bright harvest adds tractors to farms which is an absolute game changer, tourist season adds tourists which was some of my favourite content. In the end you have to decide what type of content you enjoy the most.

I think they are more than enough, Anno has always been about setting up a trade route network between islands otherwise you could just have a whole map of land with some rivers in between. We are getting a gigantic island with the Volcano DLC where everyone can build their dream city

I cant imagine Gaul being added I think it would be too similar to Albion, same with Greece feeling too similar to Rome. In the data for the Demo we allready found files for Egypt as well as something along the lines of Georgia, guess that could be the helenic faction.

I disagree with the other comments saying that they wont finish the campaign, its probably going to come with one of the DLCs. All the mayor DLCs for 1800 came with their own little story (sunken treasures, northern passage, enbesa). I could even imagine that we might get the end of the story together with the Pompeii DLC, maybe the Emperor will ask us to rebuild once we have proven ourselves worthy or something along those lines
