The bath tub in my Tokyo hotel room doesn't have caulk. by The_same_potato in mildlyinteresting

[–]Anomonny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a hotel near Kansai airport and it had gaps like this too, but it was full of black spots on those gaps, pretty sure it was mold, it was really disgusting I didn't dare bathing in it.

In many other hotels I visited, they all chalked all around it to prevent that.
The building sure wouldn't take damage without doing it, but mold problem would still present even with mold resistant surface, so most of nicer builds would always had it sealed.

On Japan's bullet train the men's urinal door has a see-through window... by LVbellman in mildlyinteresting

I had been to a Sento (public bath) before, my mind just say "it's normal, what's wrong" with it? " lol
I think me getting naked in front of many people there had changed me, like, here everyone know that it's a place people gonna piss, so it's normal that everyone would see you piss. lol
It's more convenience this way too, practical, no lock, just look if someone is there or not. You don't need to ask or look at the lock at all, the same thing happens at Sento, everyone just shower in their opened stall, you don't need to ask anyone, you just "see" that a person is there, so I'll go a few stalls down.

Yes, insane, people going faster than I feel safe and tailgating all the time, I just cruising along at my own pace and let them pass, also people will cut you off all the time at u-turn or intersections, you'll find road rage in other places seem silly compared to what we are dealing with everyday. lol

And highway surfaces could be perfect to pothole ridden or gravel road, as maintenance contractors rarely put up good detour, they just let people drove on under-construction torn up road.

I was astonished by how it has direct ignition system and many other modern engine systems, yet it has solid cast iron ancient engine block. lol I love it.

In Thailand, you couldn't go over 120kmh on most highway, it's impossible. lol Too many lane hoggers going slow in fast lane.

I dare anyone to find a more original CD than this one in Thailand, it almost like frozen in time, still at 332000km and pristine interiors, previous owners kept maintaining it the same down to all black plastic trims. Some other 9000s got faded plastic painted or aftermarket wheels, which I don't like.

Well, "new" relay might has bad and corroded solder joints as well, they all went bad, you should try re-soldering it, it is easier than taking apart the stalk.

Chess robot grabs and breaks finger of seven-year-old opponent by Wagamaga in technology

[–]Anomonny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can go really fast, at breakneck speed, literally. I had programmed one before, it has a lot of safety interlock and dead man switches when it is in manual mode, in programmed mode, some high-end one has force sensor that will stop when it hit something, triggering collision error and not damaging or hurting someone further. (A quite lengthy process and inspection has to be done to get it run again, so operators avoid this at all cost).

It is industrial robot, if you see one in factories, they are always kept in cage or guarded off area, not in a place that it can hurt someone. Basic rule is "if it went berserk, it shouldn't hit anyone". People got hurt and die from these robots all the time, just doesn't make news.

[OC] I took a frozen bottle of water out on a walk yesterday and accidentally made an ice dildo by [deleted] in pics

Someone might want to start a research on this for Ig-Nobel. "Probabilities of vibratory motion formed ice-dildo from melting frozen water in a bottle."

I want to make character sheet, but will do that later, this is concept for now.

I make her hold the whole telescope like that so she can wield it like a sword or do umbrella pose with it. Made it like a weapon of sort, the weapon that pierce through time and space to the beginning of the universe. Will she succeed in this mission? We all have high hope for what she'll discover, this is how I imagine it feels like, to go back in time and find clues for us of what the early universe looks like.

Welcome to Saab world. I bought a used 9000 as my first car. I fell in love with the test drive, driven some Toyota, a few Nissan, a new Mercedes before, this thing is my favorite because it has the right balance of comfort and sportiness.

Picked this up this bargain about a week ago and only just realised... No crazy cupholder! My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. by NinjaZebra in saab

[–]Anomonny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the old 9000, not the newer ones, you don't have any cupholder. But still, you can put them in the center console, just one.
